When is the shuttle due to arrive .. next spring? They will still be arguing about idling buses six months from now. That shuttle needs to go somewhere else until they sort this thing out. Maybe they can have that 'palace' ready by 2020. --- CHAS

We have liftoff on the quest for more than $40 million of public financing for a new museum that would house Enterprise, the prototype for the space shuttles.Officials of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in Manhattan have taken their pitch for government support of the proposed museum out from behind closed doors. To bolster their appeal, they have armed themselves with a study estimating that a museum focused on science and space exploration would draw hundreds of thousands of additional visitors to the city and create about 1,200 jobs. The study was commissioned by the museum.
Mr. Woods did not ask for a specific amount of help, but he said that the Intrepid hoped to “leverage public and private funds equally.” Afterward, he said the estimated cost of the project was $85 million.
I am vaguely horrified at the thought of Enterprise sitting on the deck of the Intrepid in a 'tent'. I appreciate that it may be climate controlled, but it is still a tent, next to a large body of water, in somewhat changeable climate conditions with no clear date for a move to somewhere a good deal more weatherproof
Deputy Administrator Lori Garver spoke today at Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum to mark the transfer of the Enterprise title to the museum
I wish they'd get someone like an astronaut - or someone more relevant - to do this functions. Garver is a pencil pusher who's done nothing but celebrate the end of shuttle.
