This is a conference paper, not an article for peer review.

Take a look at the date in the upper left corner (July 28-30, 2014). This is the conference report from the Cleveland Joint Propulsion Conference that has been discussed in the EM Drive Developments thread for hundreds of pages.

A more appropriate title would be "EM Drive Developments - Thread 2" with a link to thread 1 in the OP.

"libertarian news"?

This sort of technology could make it much easier for private individuals to run around in interplanetary spacecraft, rather than it being the domain of government and subsidized heavy industry.

I guess...?

I guess...?

in that case, it would also allow most private individuals to have their own planet devastating kinetic weapons! Damn, government, will destroy that courthouse in the US that did not grant me the rights I wanted to mine an asteroid.

accelerates ship to 0.9999999 C

destroys courthouse and the rest of planet Earth as a side-effect.

Yeah, that can be a problem.

You can have my EMDrive when you can pry it from my cold, dead...get your hands off me, you damned, dirty ape!

Seriously, why not post the link in the other thread?  Or change the title of this thread and direct the other thread here?

Yeah this has been discussed for hundreds of posts here on the other thread. http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=pcavraq3ah39c0tqu49taj87n3&topic=29276.2910

I get what Islandplaya is saying though. We need a reboot of the discussion and to bring in new insight. I'm already seeing new faces on this thread, which is a good thing. :)

Since actual fresh news on EMdrive developments are few and far in between, the other thread has spent most of the time picking apart existing theory and trying to make new theory since many (not everyone) agree that Shawyer's explanation doesn't make sense. Also the data provided by NASA on Q-thrusters lacks any real data/math/theory....so much effort has been given finding theory to support/break Q-thrusters too.

Of course having more than one thread makes things messy too.

This is a good thread to focus solely on the Nasa paper given the title of it.
