Thread for the 2nd of 4 suborbital launches of Electron/HASTE for Leidos for hypersonic testing from LC-2, NET 22 November 2024 at 00:45-06:00 UTC (21 November 7:45 pm - 22 November 1 am EST). Mission is apparently code-named "HIPPO".
NGA Rocket Launching notice.
@NASAWallops looks like @RocketLab moving forward with Todays #HASTE launch Nov 21st 2024. #rocketlab #Electron #nasawallops #reusablelaunchvehicles #nasa #space #rockets #wallopsflightfacility#virginia #launch #rocket #space #spaceflight
This is about as close as I can get with a cropped image.
Maps from the combined notices. If I'm reading it right, three hippos (or their debris) will splashdown.
[Launch:] Not yet target time was 8:13 local but weather is being a problem currently.
We will be entering a hold at T-15mins as we wait for upper level winds to cooperate.
We are still holding. Weather balloons are being released around every 15 mins. Upper level winds are forecasted to get better later in the window. The window runs until 1am.
There is some discussion about targeting the end of tonight’s launch window. But nothing set yet.
Targeting 10:58pm
Moon is rising and clouds are clearing for a launch in under 10 mins and counting
