Thread for the Starlink Group 9-13 launch.

Launch 24 November 2024, at 05:25:30 UTC (23 November 9:25 pm PST), from Vandenberg SLC-4E, on booster 1075-15.  The first stage successfully landed land aboard Of Course I Still Love You.

Payload 20 Starlink V2.0 Mini satellites, of which 13 are Direct-to-Cell, to a 53 degree inclination orbit on a southeastern trajectory.  Initial orbit nnn x nnn km.

Please use the Starlink Discussion Thread for all general discussion on Starlink.

Check the Starlink Index Thread for links to more Starlink information.

Cross-post; the next Vandenberg Starlink launch could well be another Group 9 launch.

Further Starlink Group 11 launches (11-2, etc) may be delayed until the initial Direct-to-Cell constellation is completed.

After the successful launch of Starlink 9-10:
https://twitter.com/longmier/status/1855135424194191793
Quote
Only 4 more launches to complete the MVP @Starlink Direct to Cell constellation.

Testing is ongoing in the US, Japan, and New Zealand.

Please contact us if you are a telco and want to bring Direct to Cell to your customers in your country.

A successful Starlink 9-12 launch, assuming the present pattern continues, would whittle that down to two more Group 9 launches, each with 13 D2C satellites = 26 total.

Hypothetical SLC-4E near-term schedule; UTC:

✅️ Nov 14 05:23      Starlink 9-11    OCISLY

Nov 18 NET 05:47  Starlink 9-12    OCISLY

NET Nov 22             Starlink 9-13OCISLY

NET Nov 26             Starlink 9-14OCISLY

There will be a fifth (and sixth) Starshield launch, perhaps sooner than at a two month interval between launches (previous launch Oct 24), so as to finish such launches in 2024 as planned.

Which first stage will be used for this launch?  (semi-rhetorical question)

Falcon 9 first stages are now cleared for use up to forty times for non-human spaceflight missions, although that number is apparently more restricted for Cargo Dragon and Cygnus than these other payloads.

Available first stages, with UTC date of most recent recovery:
1063.22  Oct 24
1075.15  Oct 30  (maybe)

Edit November 23: It's 1075.15, skipping over 1063.22.

The weather looks good for Sunday's late-in-the-day launch, but it could be windy (post-storm wind).  The leftovers of the "Bomb Cyclone" will pass over the base on Saturday and leave the area by Sunday morning.  Boy, is it cold, the upper 40s along the coastline.  I'll provide details on Sunday, 12 hours before T-0.
It's Tony De La Rosa, ...I don't create this stuff, I just report it.

Booster B1075-15

Note that SpaceX only lists the opening of the window, and not the targeted T-0 time from CelesTrak

Quote
SpaceX is targeting Saturday, November 23 for a Falcon 9 launch of 20 Starlink satellites, including 13 with Direct to Cell capabilities, to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The four-hour launch window opens at 7:26 p.m. PT. If needed, an additional opportunity is available on Sunday, November 24.

This is the 15th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched SDA-0A, Transporter-11, SARah-2, and 11 Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, which will be stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
