Tanking Test 3
« on: 05/22/2005 04:24 pm »
Still not certain if there will be a third Tanking Test for STS-114 - this time with ET-121.

If you ask NASA Managers, they claim they might not need to do one. If you speak to USA guys they claim it's likely there will be one.

A third Tank Test set us at least one week past the July 13 launch date.

You don't seem too sure, Chris, on a third tanking test - in the latest article on the news site. Is it a case of thinking that this is still up in the air. I'm glad it's looking ok at the moment for a July launch!

I can't see how they wouldn't do a third tanking test. Best to be sure after a two and a half year wait and two previous problems on the previous tests?

Yes, but there's nothing really one can do about the ECO - that's an unexplained anomoly that was most likely fixed in the work at the pad with the extra platforms you heard. With it no longer being a problem on Tank Test 2 then all should be ok. One can be over cautious and that's what you're all seeing here. We can't fly a 'perfect shuttle' but we can get rid of things we know we can fix.
