Will there ever be an opportunity for somebody on the ISS to follow and film a launch via the cupola?
Quote from: spacedive on 04/14/2010 06:40 amWill there ever be an opportunity for somebody on the ISS to follow and film a launch via the cupola?Probably not.The ISS is in a higher orbit than the shuttle's initial orbit, so when the shuttle makes it to orbit, it will be moving faster around Earth than ISS. As such, they launch a few minutes after the ISS passes over to give ISS some lead time so that the shuttle will catch up to it instead of racing ahead.
Check out this AWESOME video – 6 weeks of STS-131 processing footage from OPF to launch, compressed into 3 minutes 52 seconds! www.airspacemag.com/multimedia/videos/Go-For-Launch.html
