Does anyone know why Roskosmos is using a Soyuz 2.1b for this mission when a Soyuz-U could do the same job?

The rocket would have been ordered before 2009, and at the time it was planned for a paired launch?

The launch of Glonass-K1 satellite is possibly postponed to 2013 and possibly Glonass-M satellite will be launched on December 25th instead of it.

Will this affects the processing of ILS missions (Satmex-7 is currently scheduled on December 27), or like before an ILS mission and a Russian federal mission can be processed simulatneously?

One Glonass-M will be launched by Soyuz-2-1B with Fregat.

Ah OK, I thought that the Russian guys are trying to substitiute a GLONASS-K satellite launch with a triple GLONASS-M launch from Baikonur...  :-[

Thanks a lot, I have changed the title of this thread and initialized a new one for the Glonass-M launch in December.

First Glonass-K2 will be launched not earlier than 2015, first Glonass-KM - after 2020.

I remember both Glonass-K1 and -K2 are test satellites and only Glonass-KM will be production satellites. If Glonass-KM are available after 2020, that means the whole constellation will be sustained by Glonass-M satellites, thus a big delay of the Glonass modernization plan...

No, two Glonass-K1 satellites and two first Glonass-K2 satellites are test satellites. Since third Glonass-K2 all satellites will be serial. See the schedule of launches on http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=30175.0

According to this post:

Fregat #1044 is actually a Fregat-M.

There are rumour on NK forum that the launch has been delayed due to problems with Fregat upper stage (it should be returned to a factory) and Glonass-K1 satellite.

There are rumour on NK forum that the launch has been delayed due to problems with Fregat upper stage (it should be returned to a factory) and Glonass-K1 satellite.

This report confirms that there are problems with the electric cables of the fuel consumption control system of the Fregat upper stage: http://izvestia.ru/news/540601#ixzz2DfsMZ5iG. The new launch date is now in February/March 2013.

And I have a reliable source that confirms that there will be no more Soyuz launches from Plesetsk in 2012, and that the problem is with the Fregat upper stage.

Fregat-M's control system needs repair or replacement.

Quote
