Font size seems to be varying in the forum posts.

On Linux/Firefox (& Linux/Seamonkey)
OSX/Firefox does not seem to have the same font size issue.

Also, size got a lot bigger on the "active topics" link https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?action=activetopics
I know I can globally shrink fonts on my browser, but that effects all tabs.

This theme does not allow for zooming of the screen page. It makes it real hard to read the comments. Can I get back to the desktop theme as it worked great for me?

Right side of Forum is cut off when viewed in the portrait orientation (vertical) on Samsung Galaxy S7 and similar sized phones. It is fine on my work phone which is a larger sized S10.

The one thing i cant seem to get used to is the font. The old one was perfect.

Agreed.  I'm a big fan of serif fonts for large blocks of text, so this feels like a step back to the 80's (anyone remember OMNI magazine?)  I'm literally squinting reflexively to try to get it readable, which is starting to give me eye-strain.

(Also the kerning on the poster's name and post title are wrong. Makes it look fixed-width.  This is in the Safari browser.)

[Bona-fides: I used to work at Extensis, which gave me more sensitivity to font issues than I ever wanted.]

Good stuff guys. The fonts are NOT set in stone. We'll keep refining.

Yes, I agree with the above.  I can't use desktop mode (which is all I use) on my phone without the ability to zoom out and/or scroll right and left.

It does, with control + -

And for phone, it does on mine.  iphone/chrome - zoomed right in (could go further, but an example). And again, russianhalo117,  mobile is really good in *landscape* mode when in desktop mode.

Anyway, zooming in example....

Control- to 90% improves the appearance immensely on my desktop Firefox setup.

I agree with IanO that a serif font would probably be better.

If there's any plans to add a dark mode, I'd love to see that soon. Right now it's so incredibly bright, and it gets uncomfortable at night.

Other than that I generally like the change, it's sleek and larger text is more comfortable to read.

It is in the works if you read near the beginning of the thread.

Yep I read it, and looking back it doesn't show in my reply. Most importantly, I just wanted to voice my support for a darker theme.

Not sure if its just me but words are also being cut in half on line breaks.
Li
ke
Th
is.

Browser is Edge if that helps

Chrome works fine. Edge is confirmed

E: IE is also splitting the words

Confirmed on FireFox. Now, full discolosure, I'm using an old build (52.6 ESR) but text wrapping wasn't an issue before.

Count me in with the crowd who find the white space quite jarring, but knowing that there's a dark theme on the way I'm content to wait for it. That said, If I'm doing my element inspection properly, then it appears that the background of the main page is actually a slightly darker shade of gray than the forum pages, and I think the extra contrast helps.  Perhaps, in the interim, darken the forum background slightly?

Regardless of personal preferences, I think we can all appreciate the efforts of those attempting to improve the site; so my thanks to all involved.

It won't zoom OUT on mobile, and it won't scroll/drag either, which means the right side of the page is not visible.

I'm running current OSX/Safari.
The font used for the author and thread title is seriously ugly. So much so that my immediate reaction was that my browser must be trying to render a font that it doesn't fully understand. However, screenshots from others, including your 'Screenshot 2019-09-27 at 22.31.39.png', show that it's not just me. IMO, one big problem with this font is the excessive space between adjacent characters.
The appearance improves if this is reduced. (though I still prefer the old font). I've tried to illustrate the point by pixel copying and pasting letters. (See attachment.) Current version is on the left, reduced space version is on the right. Perhaps there's a kerning setting to control this?

Sidebar/ads are very intrusive on a 1280x800 tablet.  Can't zoom or pan them away.

The right hand bar is way too big, it squeezes the actual content way too much. It would be nice if we had the ability to toggle off the sidebar and ads for L2 users.

Between the sidebar and extra side padding, the content of the page is less than 25% at page load on an iPad.

Using a fancy-ish webfont for the NSF Front Page and stories? Fine branding, solid use of typography.
For the forums? Not as clever. This new typeface is beautiful, but more difficult to scan in table layouts with small text.

Clean, adornment-free sans serif typefaces, like Helvetica, exist for a reason. This is a significant regression for the NSF Forums.

I'd like to second the request to bring the ability to zoom in and out back.  I read in chrome on an android tablet and the zoom let me get the text to a size that was comfortable.  With the current theme I am stuck with a one size fits all font size.  The other issue with this is that on a touch screen it is tricky to pick a page number or the next/previous links on a thread with multiple pages when everything is zoomed out and the links are tiny.  On the old site I'd just quickly zoom in on those links and then it was easy to touch the specific one I needed.
