Congrats to @ulalaunch, @SpaceX & @blueorigin —great to see three commercial providers now supporting national security launches. @POTUS is igniting a golden age of exploration, including the inspiring goal to plant the Stars and Stripes on Mars. This will take contributions from many—with @SpaceForceDoD standing watch as America leads the greatest adventure in human history.

On the basis of that tweet I'd give Isaacman a B+ for brown-nosing skills, which bodes fairly well for his confirmation. Only a B+, though, because he fails to imply that POTUS personally invented rockets and is about to discover warp drive. :):):)

Does the NASA Admin nominee think that SLS, Orion, and the rest of Artemis are broken?

The release of the Artemis II mission crew patch is another event symbolizing the coming launch, but will imagery like the recent SLS Core Stage to Booster mate or the patch change plans for the future of Artemis?

A few days before the patch was made public, another news story added weight to the rumors that President Trump and Elon Musk are looking at terminating SLS, freeing Musk from his Artemis lunar lander obligations, and pivoting to Musk's long-time goal of Mars.  NASA Administrator nominee Jared Isaacman was said to be onboard with Trump and Musk's plans; he'll get a chance to speak to that in his confirmation hearing that was scheduled for April 9.

I'll go over that, the arrival of the Gateway HALO module in the U.S., and more Artemis II information that Exploration Ground Systems provided to the media at an event in San Diego after their landing and recovery training exercise.

What?  The Trumpster didn't invent the rocket?

This week the Senate Commerce Committee will hear from President Trump's nominee to be NASA Administrator, Jared Isaacman.

During our meeting, Mr. Isaacman committed to having American astronauts return to the lunar surface ASAP so we can develop the technologies needed to go on to Mars.

The moon mission MUST happen in President Trump's term or else China will beat us there and build the first moonbase.

Artemis and the Moon-to-Mars Program are critical for American leadership in space!

Quote from: Jared Isaacman
Very grateful for your support Mr. Chairman.

It is good to see him continue to be a fan of a competitive launch environment. His talk he gave last December that I was at he made similar points many times, and I think at least that part of the statement was 100% sincere. I think he's also genuinely grateful to Trump for the opportunity to help a cause he cares about (expanding human spaceflight).

I just hope that he doesn't get too hobbled by the administration and their budget request (the few rumors I've hear suggest it may be brutal).

I'd bet a $TRUMP to a $MELANIA that Orion and SLS are safe for quite some time.

Sen. Cruz isn't just saving Orion and SLS, he's crowing about it.

Snarky though my tone was, I certainly did not mean any criticism of Isaacman. He has no choice but to play the game if he wants to be effective -- and I'm glad he didn't merit a grade of A+ in this particular instance, easy though that would have been to achieve.

My baseline expectation is that possibly the best administrator in NASA's history will be wasted on an agency constrained by drastic budget cuts amplified by the imperative of funding Orion and SLS.

My only reservation about Isaacman was if he could deal with all the political chicanery of trying to steer NASA goals through Washington. But I don't see how he is in any way going to be a problematical choice. Is he an alcoholic? An anti-vaxer? Does he have problematical links to foreign governments? Any racist tatoos? No? Then he should be a refreshing change from other picks for other departments that were waved through and Jared should be welcomed with open arms.

Not being political. This is all on record.

Good luck to Jared. It will be good to see someone who is truly passionate about human spaceflight in the role.

Woah, that was faster than I expected. On Monday he tells Senator Cruz that the Moon is the priority, and on Wednesday he will reportedly say that Mars is the priority.

Figuring out what flavor of popcorn to eat for this show...  :D
If we don't continuously lower the cost to access space, how are we ever going to afford to expand humanity out into space?
