falcon heavy : emergency return of payload

Hi all space dreamers
Haven't found anything regarding this subject.
falcon heavy have return capability
In case of the now upcoming missions with falcon heavy it struck me that the system should be able to return to earth / launch pad / barge with the cargo intact.
does Space X take that into consideration have flight software to handle or even plans for this , say if one of the boosters fail or anything else happens that's not a immediate RUD?
is the upper stage system able to return and land with an attached payload ?
that would be such an huge cost/ research saving feature.
thinking of the europa clipper or any payload for that matter.

No. It's only the boosters that can land, either on a barge ship or maybe a return to the landing pad depending on the mission profile. The 2nd stage can not land at all. If the payload does not reach orbit due to a system failure it will be lost.

Hi all space dreamers
Welcome to the forums. This is a uniquely valuable and welcoming place but we don't open new threads for Questions that the community would have understood 4 years ago. And you've posted a Falcon question in the Starship Forum.
If everyone opened threads for their most basic, first thoughts about SpaceX questions, it would make following these forums miserable.
Look around and use google search hacks like:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aforum.nasaspaceflight.com+upper+stage+recovery
If you can't find anything, there's an a Couple Catch-all Threads.
I'll delete all this after this whole thread gets moved somewhere.
