SpaceX just tweeted it...

Original size image:
They didnt weld shoes on the legs, looks like tie down hooks attaching to the base

You can't tell that from that image, the deck is not visible at all, nor are the feet.

Looked like both in a previous webcam zoom-in. There was something around the feet, it looked like.

Can't wait until later this year when we see this same stage pulling into port again after becoming the first stage to land twice!

Or maybe it'll take the easy road and just land back on land and save the long sail home.

SpaceX just tweeted it...

Original size image:

The tiny people by the feet again....  And this entire thing just fell from the sky and gently plopped onto a swaying deck not much bigger than itself.

And to think that in a year, nobody will bother watching this.

McGregor has rocket cows, Port Canaveral has the rocket cat.

Love this, looking forward to seeing a few more come in to port this year :)

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine - however, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are
going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead.

What is the brigth horizontal bar at the lower end of the left leg? It seems to be something fixing the leg.

Could have been they wanted to measure the moments of a safed rocket and used some type of strain gauge tie downs to collect more data.

If the swells had been worse they might have welded shoes to the deck for safe keeping, but I'd guess their data was telling them they had a comfortable margin for error -- that.. and given the "nasty habit of rapid unplanned dissassembly"  they didn't want to "risk" disassembling a few humans attempting to weld iron overshoes next to whatever was left of the rocket fuel in the tanks... at least not this time.

I see a few Iron Giants in SpaceX's future.. autonomous non-human welder bots.. scurrying about the deck. Sentinels .. like in that X-Men movie?

That load bearing cap has green lights on it! For camera possibly.

Edit: They are lowering it down.

How are you coming to the conclusion that there are no welded shoes? We simply cannot see the deck surface.

And as far as not risking people... Do you think the jacks and tie-downs installed themselves?
