My bolds:
Ben Cooper's Launch Photography Viewing Guide, updated September 18:
Quote
The next SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch Crew-9 to the International Space Station from pad 40 on September 26 at 2:05 p.m. EDT. The first stage will land back at the Cape landing zone about eight minutes after launch. A Falcon 9 will launch a Starlink batch from pad 40. A Falcon 9 will launch the Hera asteroid rendezvous mission for the European Space Agency from pad 40 on October 7 at 10:52 a.m. EDT. The next Falcon Heavy will launch NASA's flagship Europa Clipper spacecraft to orbit around Jupiter from pad 39A on October 10 at 12:31 p.m. EDT. Upcoming launches include more Starlink batches from pad 40. A Falcon 9 will launch the Koreasat 6A communication satellite from pad 40 on October. A Falcon 9 will launch the CRS-31 Cargo Dragon resupply mission to the ISS from pad 40 on late October around 12 a.m. EDT.
This should be the first SLC-40 launch following Hera.  ASDS turnaround is not a scheduling factor, as the two previous Florida Falcon launches are expendable.

I suppose a launch date has not yet been announced as it depends on when Hera launches in its launch window.

There may be one more Starlink launch slot available at SLC-40 in October, as SpX-31 will now launch from LC-39A.

We don't yet know the date Koreasat 6A is scheduled to launch; it may be possible to prosecute three successive Starlink launches from SLC-40 between Europa Clipper and Koreasat 6A?

Also, when will ASOG return to Port Canaveral, so as to rejoin the ASDS recovery routine?

My bold:

Preliminary information from CelesTrak. Note the "Launch window" line which is an indication that the information did not actually come from SpaceX even though it says "provided by SpaceX." The lack of an X post from T.S. Kelso is another indication.

Which first stage will be used for this launch? (semi-rhetorical question)

Falcon 9 first stages are now cleared for use up to forty times for non-crewed launches, although that number is apparently more restricted for Cargo Dragon or Cygnus than these other payloads.

1072.2 and 1086.2 are being converted to "single-sticks" after their recovery as the Falcon Heavy side boosters from the GOES-U launch.

Available first stages, with UTC date of most recent recovery:
1072.2    Jun 25   (maybe)
1086.2    Jun 25   (maybe)
1073.18  Aug 12
1076.17  Aug 15
1069.19  Aug 31
1077.16  Sep 5
1083.5    Sep 10   (doubtful due to young age, perhaps reserved for SpX-31?)
1078.14  Sep 12
1067.23  Sep 17

Edit October 18: It's B1076.17, skipping over B1072.2, B1086.2, and B1073.18.

Unfortunately it's "improving" to 60% POV (40% 'Go').

The NGA hasn't been issuing many Space Debris notices for Starlink launches from the cape, just Rocket Launching notices.

But these two multi-launch Space Debris notices for October 19 to November 18 have just come out (the same notice for two different Navigational Areas).

Note that they will not be in effect for the first two days of this mission's launch period.

Planning one launch opportunity at the end of the four hour launch window may be also to cause less disruption to east coast air travel by launching late in the day.  Might there also be a weather advantage in the same strategy?

Possibly good timing for jellyfish.    I was wrong.

Cape sunset is 6:50 PM EDT.  Civil twilight is 7:14 PM EDT and nautical twilight and moon rise is at 7:41 PM EDT.  Look angles provided later if the conditions are good.

A launch at 7:10 PM EDT has good lighting for the second stage.   Sunlight is significantly degraded with a 7:20 PM EDT launch.  7:31 PM EDT has the second stage in darkness using my program.  Such is the reality of the changing position of the sun as we approach the winter solstice.

A 7:06 PM EDT launch time on 19 October would be good.

SpaceX is targeting Friday, October 18 for a Falcon 9 launch of 20 Starlink satellites, including 13 with Direct to Cell capabilities, to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Liftoff is targeted for 7:31 p.m. ET. If needed, an additional opportunity is also available on Saturday, October 19 at 7:06 p.m. ET.

A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff, which you can watch here and on X @SpaceX. You can also watch the webcast on the new X TV app.

This is the 17th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched mPOWER-C, OneWeb 2, Intelsat 40e, Digital Globe 2, Turksat-6A, Eutelsat 36X, Ovzon-3, CRS-26, and eight Starlink missions. (=B1076-17) Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

PS Not to be greedy, but I hope SpaceX releases some footage from BuoyCam for Ship 30's landing and some footage showing the control room during launch and catch. 🙏

CATDLT: We are lucky to hear the "Nominal Orbital Insertion" call-out at the end of the broadcast.

SECO-1 and apparently nominal parking orbit.

End of SpaceX’s webcast re-streamed by Space Affairs.

Empty SLC-40 from NSF webcasters.

Remaining launch events:
00:54:48   2nd stage engine starts (SES-2)
00:54:50   2nd stage engine cutoff (SECO-2)
01:03:42   Starlink satellites deploy

Edit: No SpaceX launch tweets--very low key launch coverage from them tonight.

Got a very nice view of Starlink Group 8-19 from Long Island, NY this evening on its way to orbit. Saw about 30 seconds of powered flight followed by SECO-1.

With today's Starlink mission, SpaceX is estimated to have exceeded the total mass delivered to orbit in 2023.

Please note that these figures carry a significant margin of error, as the exact mass of some missions remains unknown. Learn more: boostertracker.com/graphs/

SpaceX recovery ship Doug arrived at Canaveral this morning with both sets of fairing halves from the last two Starlink missions from the East Coast

Interestingly the ship only offloaded two halves before departing again - appears to be going for SL 6-61 nsf.live/spacecoast

Crazy if the schedule is so tight that there isn't enough time to unload all the recovered hardware.😆

Maybe they ran out of fairing trailers and couldn't wait (GO Cosmos unloaded two halves last night)

Doug returned to PC on Oct 12 @ 9:36am ET

Doug departed PC on Oct 12 @ 12:05pm ET

Doug returned to PC on Oct 20 @ 6:51am ET

Doug also supported 8-19

Hello, amatuer and newcomer here, wanting to get some clarity on what I saw on Sunday night.

I've seen Starlink satellites before but on Sunday night I saw a dispersed chain, with maybe 3 or 4 in one field of view.

At the last satellite was another object, of similar brightness but orange, and moving at a trajectory of maybe 10-20 degrees away from the line of travel of the satellites. It was travelling slower and faded as did the rest as the passed east away from the sunset (this was roughly 2-3 hours after sunset).

I've never seen an orange object in orbit, so I'm wondering if this was the deployment craft/rig, or the rocket booster? Was the orange an afterglow? Any knowledgable intepretation or educated guesswork about this sighting would be most welcome!
