I have always feel that the PSLV is quite a clumsy way to launch satellites (4.5 stages, half liquid/half solid fuel), so making use of India's long time SRM manufacturing base to make this 500 kg LEO launcher for this fierce market is a no-brainer, maybe even a few years late.

A few years after revealing plans of a smaller satellite launcher, @isro's 1st Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) launch will launch on August 7 @ 03:48 UTC. The 3 solid stages + liquid fuel upper stage LV is a much appreciated addition to the ISRO's fleet.

EOS-02 in 37 degree inclination. This is same as RISAT-2B and RISAT-2BR1. What would this be looking at ;D

Nice detail in that brochure.  Are the  new systems/sub-systems indigenous? The actuators are, what about super capacitors, on board  computer, and miniaturised electronics et al?  Probably they are, though there would be imported parts.

Nice detail in that brochure.  Are the  new systems/sub-systems indigenous? The actuators are, what about super capacitors, on board  computer, and miniaturised electronics et al?  Probably they are, though there would be imported parts.

ISRO has been using indigenous Vikram processor (Vikram 1601) for OBC (onboard computer) for quite some time now. Vikram 1601 was flight-tested in 2007 on PSLV-C8 as part of AAM (Advanced Avionics Module) package on PS4. And, they started using Vikram on both primary and redundant chains of OBC since PSLV C17 in 2011. I believe they were using Vikram on only one of the chains of OBC till PSLV C17.

Super capacitors are also most likely indigenous; see attached excerpts from ISRO technology transfer book from Nov 2021. There was also a brief mention about testing of supercapacitor on RH200 sounding rocket at TERLS in this 2018 newsletter: https://www.isro.gov.in/golden-jubilee-celebration-of-terls

Quote
At the end of the event, Chairman, ISRO and other dignitaries witnessed the RH-200 sounding rocket launch carrying chaff payload powered by indigenous super capacitor from TERLS Range.

The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) here in Thumba, which is ISRO’s lead unit on launch vehicles, was responsible for the design and development of the three-stage SSLV. The Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) at Valiyamala in the district developed the Velocity Trimming Module (VTM) for the SSLV, VSSC director S. Unnikrishnan Nair told The Hindu.

Quote
And like the launch vehicle, the team handling the SSLV project at VSSC is also small – it has less than 10 members, although they are supported by other ISRO divisions. ‘‘With the SSLV, we tried out a new management style. We also had new private industries participating with ISRO for this project,’‘ said Dr. Unnikrishnan Nair.

The PSLV was developed to place 700kg+ satellites into a polar orbit, so that the IRS type satellites wouldn't have to be continually launched by another country. It made total sense from that objective, and it has served ISRO well. Now, with increasing commercial launches of smaller, less than 500kg satellites, the SSLV is very timely and practical. The PSLV won't( at some close future date anyway) be needed to launch satellites weighing 8kg, 15 kg, 60kg and so on up to 500kg.

'And like the launch vehicle, the team handling the SSLV project at VSSC is also small'

The wording here is meant to be light hearted, but putting it in perspective, the SSLV at 120 tonnes, is almost 7 times the size of the first generation SLV-3, and 3 times the size of the follow-on vehicle ASLV   :)

Only two fins out of four have control surfaces (movable fin tips) in SS1 first stage of SSLV. One of the tips with control surface is marked PPYM (Pitch Plus, Yaw Minus), and one of the fixed fins is marked PMYM (Pitch Minus, Yaw Minus). We don't see markings on the other two fins. They're most likely opposites of these two.

After so many delays in past few years, is it finally the debut day?
Or we got some delay (long term) shortly before the launch window?

The first launch attempt is: SSLV D1 - EOS-02 and others - FLP - 7 August 2022 (03:48 UTC). Being a newer launcher it's countdown sequence should be shorter. I'm not sure if we know what time the controllers call to stations and the planned dtatt time for the terminal countdown.
