The launch is "delayed beyond the end of January", according to http://showcase.netins.net/web/wallio/CubeSat.htm

Also Roskosmos website informs (in Russian), that "preparation of EgyptSat-1 and other satellites is carried out before irreversible operations" and "the order and terms of the further works on the group launch of satellites will be certain in addition"...

Kazakhstan has not allowed till now to renew launches of Dnepr rockets from Baikonur cosmodrome...

Quote from this source:

"CAPE1 [one of satellites, which will be launched together with EgyptSat-1 - anik note] has been delivered to CalPoly for integration. The reason for the delay is that Kosmotras does not yet have permission to launch from Baikonur. They expect to have that permission by the end of January, and to begin preparations of the rocket in February. Because of this timetable, the launch will not occur before March"

Nothing new, but worth reporting for cynical vallue, source

Egypts says:"We will soon complete the final stage for launching the first satellite for remote sensing and scientific research, 'Misr Sat 1',"

Israel says: Yediot Aharanot described the device as a "spy satellite" that is expected to include Israel in its orbital path.

Anyway, there is no new fixed launch date, the bird is build in the Ukraine and takes black and white pictures.

According to Roskosmos plan, this launch is planned on March 29 now...

EgyptSat-1 satellite is already on Baikonur cosmodrome from the last year... Other satellites for this launch will be delivered there on March 1...

What exactly are the payloads for this mission?

  • Obviously Egyptsat 1 is the primary payload.
  • CAPE 1 has been quoted in a message above to be launched.
  • Also is MAST (the one which will be testing new space tethers).
  • Libertad 1 (the first Colombian satellite) is also scheduled to fly in this rocket (http://www.usergioarboleda.edu.co/proyecto_espacial/index.htm)
  • And also the tiny CSTB 1 seems to be flying, even though I can't find any news relating to this change of launch date...

But then I find some uncertainty. I can't find any info about AeroCube2, although it's listed as a payload both in Gunter's Space page http://space.skyrocket.de/ and here http://showcase.netins.net/web/wallio/CubeSat.htm . CP3 and CP4 are also listed in these pages, but there's no new info at their site (last update seems to be in August last year)

Gunter also lists AKS 1 and AKS 2 (both of which I consider very interesting and innovative, BTW), and 6 Saudi satellites, one seems to be a spy/photo-reconnaisance satellite (SaudiSat3) and the other 5 are listed as Saudi Comsats.

Any clarifying on this?

ITAR-TASS informs, that SaudiSat-3 and five SaudiComSat satellites have arrived to Baikonur cosmodrome on March 8 and their preparation to the launch has begun today...

Another ITAR-TASS article informs, that the decision will be made soon about quantity of satellites (14 or 16), which will be launched on March 27...

Interesting updates for an interesting topic (space tethers) in Tethers Unlimited website: http://www.tethers.com/

For info about MAST (the three picosatellites joined by the tether to be launched in the Dnepr): http://www.tethers.com/Missions.html

A blog with updates about the status of the mission: http://www.tethers.com/MAST_Blog.html

So we got 5 Saudi Satellites, 6 cubesats plus MAST, and then the 100kg Egyptian satellite. Im a missing something, or is this a rather small (in weight) terms for the Dnepr?

Hope all goes well.
