GOOD NEWS FOR CHRUS 😂😂

CLARIFICATION AT LAST !

The Soyuz TM descent module that Tim Peake and two colleagues returned to Earth inside from the mission to  ISS

WILL BE DISPLAYED AT NRM YORK RAILWAY MUSEUM IN 2018.

The dates are from 18 January  to. 8 March 2018.

Entry to Museum is FREE as viewing the Soyuz DM will be FREE.

A Virtual Reality experience will cost £6.

Will it be displayed alongside the "Rocket" steam pioneer engine ? Don't know !

Many famous locomotives on display at NRM York and is direct walking distance from York railway station ( walkway bridge connects the two )  and the city centre. Site has onsite cafe but many good restaurants in city centre 8-10 minutes walk away.

Good day out for all family in York with a lot of other tourist attractions to do as well as many shops . Car parking not so good in centre so consider going by train or , if you do we car, use park and ride.

Hope that clarifies situation and apologise for Earlie confusion re Shildon

( I think Shildon was being considered for short term storage of the Soyuz DM before going York and, therefore, probably not on show. ? )

Why is this being named "Tim Peake's capsule" or similar?   Firstly he doesn't own it and secondly why are you forgetting that Yuri Malenchenko and Timothy Kopra also flew to and from ISS aboard the spacecraft?

You are right to be highly insulted. How do people dare to attempt erasing these kosmonauts from history? Such Stalinist practice must be frowned upon and slapped very hard.

If you are going to be pedantic it belongs to the British people being as the Science Museum purchased it in 2016.

Welcome.

Typically we don't usually post "that's awesome" sorts of posts, we just use the like button (once every 121 seconds or more) to mark specific posts we think are nifty.

In answer to my query, the Science Museum has provided the following schedule of the tour of the Soyuz-TMA 19M descent module through to mid-2019:-

Locomotion—Shildon, County Durham                                      22 November 2017 – 15 January 2018
National Railway Museum—York                                               17 January 2018 – 8 March 2018
Museum of Science + Industry—Manchester                              10 March 2018 – 13 May 2018
National Museum of Scotland—Edinburgh                                  Mid-May – mid-Aug 2018
Venue 6 (competition slot)                                                       tbc mid-Aug – mid-Nov 2018
National Museum Wales—Cardiff                                               Mid-Nov 2018 – Jan 2019
National Museums Northern Ireland: Ulster Museum—Belfast      Mid-Feb 2019 – mid-May 2019

So it can't be expected to be back on display at the London Science Museum until mid-2019 at the earliest.
