According to the Go Taikonauts! issue n.º 16, in April, the camera of the satellite completed the thermal environment test. In May, the fuelling test of the propulsion system was also completed. And by end of June, the flight model of GF-4 completed two other tests, the mechanical test and the satellite-launcher separation test, paving the way for its launch in late 2015.

Chinese Newspaper: Spy Satellites Will Target US Carriers

In a recent issue of the Chinese-language state-run China Youth Daily newspaper, a report claims that the Gaofen-4 geostationary earth observation satellite will be launched by the end of this year with the express purpose of hunting US aircraft carriers. The satellite is equipped with a visible light imager at 50 meters and infrared staring optical imager at 400 meters.

Can any of our Chinese speaking members try to check this on the China Youth Daily?

If GF-4's resolution is 50m it will be 20 times better than that for GOES or MSG! ::)

Barring any surprises or difficulties, this launch will be the final orbital launch, worldwide, of 2015?
