Could be just an unplanned debris object, not uncommon with H2A launches.

From the photos is it now clear this vehicle is flying in the "202" configuration? Also is it possible this vehicle includes any of the enhancements planned for the H-IIA upgrade program (long coast, clampband payload attach, onboard nav for range safety)?

    http://www.jaxa.jp/pr/brochure/pdf/01/rocket08.pdf

Long coast enhancements will be introduced 2014 (May be Hayabusa-2 mission).
Other upgrade development will be finished 2013. I'm not sure detailed schedule. But no relation on this flight.

Not surprising that the US doesn't publish TLEs on "friendly" recon sats now after one friend, France, threatened to do the same with US birds because the US reported on theirs.

    Excellent! Thanks Blister.

    Article:
    http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2013/01/japanese-h-iia-lofts-igs-satellite-duo/

    Chris,
Current rockets are using SRB-A3, and the specifications are apparently tailored to each flight. Just wondered where you sourced the figures used in your article?

    P.S. you also used ‘ISG’…

Has anyong compiled a list of the different rocket configurations?

The Japanese language wikipedia has an article on SRB-A which includes a table showing a variety of variants.

Thanks for the heads up on that as I was just going to ask if the US classifies friendly nations recon satellites TLEs as well as its own. :)

    Hi everyone !
I just saw some pics of this launcher.. and i was wondering what where all the ca cables for ?
I guess the big red pipes are for the satellite air conditionning but the others I don't have a clue. Any idea ?

    Cheers !

Better/bigger launch pic.  I tried to link strait to the Japanese wiki entry but the URL wouldn't work, presumably because of kanji characters :/
