I've been here long enough that I recognize the voice of each writer.  William's and Pete's articles in particular have been excellent -- and sobering considering that at least one of them is just a young punk!

These days I'm mostly just monitoring the forums, in particular the threads of the upcoming launches, which I actually do in a daily routine via a mobile device so please keepthe quotes short :)  The only time you'll see me contributing into the forum is when I'm swatting down off-topic general discussion or briefly contributing news during a live event.  Someday I'll get around to updating my baby, the NASA HD FAQ (link below).

I still don't understand when exactly Chris B gets his sleep.

Happy to continue supporting the site via L2 even though I don't use it much these days :)

I've also been here since 2008, and I can tell you this site is the #1 for space information. Good 8 years NSF!

Promotion: I'm using this to announce that Chris Gebhardt is now our Assistant Managing Editor. Totally deserved, he's been brilliant as my number 2, so this recognizes it. An absolutely excellent writer, and a great friend.

Video and Image Arm/MaxQ How good are these guys! Nate, Brian, Larry and Steven's advancement of MaxQ Entertainment (http://www.maxqent.com/) is very impressive and their association and work for NSF is hugely appreciated. Along with Philip and Jacques they managed to grab 2.5 gbs of amazing photos and video for just the recent Discovery event and have been driving cool images into the news articles for years now.

We're also looking at a store as people have asked for NSF t-shirts and stuff (wouldn't mind one myself).

Big congrats to "Geb" as we at Max-Q call him, much deserved.

For Max-Q,  we somehow keep topping ourselves over and over again,  and for the site, we do it gladly.

T-shirts,   we might have an answer to that ;)

Congrats indeed. I first joined the site in february 2006, and then forgot all about it for two months. Rejoined with different email address in April that year, and browsing the site immediately got into my daily routines. I had a setup that would open all unread posts in all forums, and I would read each of them every night.. up until about 2008. The site had expanded so much, that it was becoming impossible to keep up with everything on here!

I still use the site daily. I saw the usage statistics some time ago in another thread, and I wonder how many "different visits" from Finland are from ME. I often browse the site from sofa with my phone, then get up and fire up the full browser in computer, and then some time later resume browsing different news sites and NSF from the sofa while watching TV. I'm a lurker by nature... When I post, I try to aim for high quality, instead of useless banter, of which there is surprisingly little on NSF :)

L2 has been fantastic and it continues to live up to its promise, even after the shuttle has gone. Thanks to Chris and all the sources!

Congratulations on 8 years !

Stumbled upon this site in 2007 and joined 2 years later. Love the content! I visit a few times a day to see what's up and it's been my homepage for awhile.

Congrats to Chris G. !  Love his articles !

Chris,

Absolute gem of a site. Stumbled across it by accident a couple of weeks ago and I'm already wondering how I've managed without it for all these years. Good timing too - just in time for the COTS 2+ mission. What with York City's recent Wembley double you must be in dreamland just now  ;).
Anyway, congratulations on reaching your eighth year and I hope you manage to keep up the good work for many more years to come.
All I need to do now is try and find a way of sneaking the L2 subscription past my better-half  ;D.

Best wishes,

Andrew.

Thanks Andrew, much appreciated!

Loved the York mention too.... good job this is internet coverage, as it took me nearly a week to get my voice back from the play off win! Dreamland doesn't even touch it after finally getting back into the League! :D

I think it would be great if you're on the home page, set the current time in UTC is easily demonstrated

The site is hosted in Texas, and thus the site is on that timezone.

OK
I'm from southern Europe and to me would mean UTC time, but if you can't - ok no problem.

I change the clock to local time.

I tried to go on server time but it's just confusing, I can't tell if posts are today or yesterday  :-[
