Well done to everyone who reposted this, retweeted it (most retweets ever) and e-mailed it.

The article just went over 100,000 reads.

Finally got the chance to read it. Great job Chris G.

And as you mentioned, a big thanks to all who have been with her and cared for her, including right up to the end that brought her to her retirement home for a well deserved rest.

What a wonderful article about Discovery!

Discovery, you've always been my favourite Orbiter, and I'll miss watching your launches and landings on CNN. I feel sorry for you, spending the rest of your life grounded, sitting in a museum, but at least you'll be well looked after.

Thanks for all the good work you, and everyone who has worked with you, have done, including the Return to Flight missions, launching and maintaining Hubble, and the ISS and Mir missions.

Farewell Discovery.

I was one of over a million people lined up on Titusville Beach to watch STS-26.  Everyone was as one at that moment in time.

I remember this one time when I took my son over to KSC to watch the STS-116 launch from Pad 39B. Ironically, we had no idea that it was the last shuttle to launch from Pad 39B. We were in the VIP site, anyway.

It's sad how this section of the forum died when Discovery was retired.
