This may prove to be idle speculation, and I don't know whether I can make it work or explain it in the right way, but I am thinking about the possibility of having a linear aerospike running perpendicular to my inlet and exhaust axis, with the intention for a vertical liftoff which quickly begins to develop airflow through the duct, pitching the vehicle upward such that the airflow itself stabilizes a biaxial AAR effect.
