;) (This post is not serious...)  ;)

In order to stop this before it happens:

http://www.ironsky.net/

So, after Apollo 18, yet another old and infamous moon-related conspiracy theory is being made into a film...  ::)

I might just go watch it, in order to  ::)  ::)  ::)

Changed the thread title before anyone else hits the mod report option in outrage.

PS Apollo 18 was crap. Shame, as it would have had potential without the silly moon rock angle.

Iron Sky has been in the works for awhile now. The people working on it are quite talented and have a sly sense of humor.

What may not be too apperant from the trailers out so far ( which are all excellent ) is that it is a comedy.

I mean, it could very well be the next transformers-hero-saves-the-world-from-evil flick if you only look at those; but it'll be a comedy.

I especially like this one:

That has the coolest moon rover ever  ;D

Dirigibles launching "jet" flying craft.  Definitely a steampunk element!

That is one awesome moon rover! :D

BTW, sorry about my first post, I didn't realize it was supposed to be a comedy. I thought it was going to be another dingbat conspiracy theory flick (the whole "Nazis on the Moon" theme is another favorite among some of the crazies out there)

Actually, I advise everyone to read their wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Sky
As well as the links of their previous movies, especially the latest one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wreck:_In_the_Pirkinning

Their business practice ( if you could call it a business ) is very interesting, and a far cry from normal movie practices. These movies are made by volunteers, and financed by donations and grants. This is made possible by the advances of CGI rendering on relatively small computer farms.

The movie will be free for download after release - I donated.
If you want to defeat the space nazi's, so should you!

( right, enough propaganda - I am looking forward to this movie. April 2012 should be the release )

Star Wreck was a big surprise and if you can get a copy you should watch it.

It was essentially a bunch of teenagers/20-somethings in Finland (of all places) who loved American science fiction television so much that they made their own fan film. The special effects were pretty impressive, especially for something made by amateurs. It demonstrated just how powerful filmmaking tools have become.

Following this theme is the classic space geek parable of the Nazi lunar base in 1945.

How could anyone imagine that the Nazis had a lunar base in 1945? Simple: look at NASA plans for a lunar base, starting in the early 1960s.  For each year that passed in real time, the predicted date for a lunar base receded a couple of year. In 1961, NASA thought that there would be lunar bases in the early 1970s, but by the 1980s, NASA thought those lunar bases were 25 years away. Now, we are probably 40 years from a lunar base.

But, if you extrapolate that trend backwards, the date of the prediction and the predicted date for a lunar coincide, sometime around 1945. Since the only conceivable operator of a lunar base in 1945 would have Wernher Von Braun, you get the Nazi lunar base in 1945.

The team's previous movie, Star Wreck: In The Pirkinning, was released as a torrent file and other downloadable versions back then, but since they got a deal to distribute it on DVD in the UK and US, they pulled back the download links from their website. That said, the release was under Creative Commons license, so if you still find a working torrent (wink), it is perfectly legal to download it - although the the new DVD version has some better audio track and better CGI, according to their website.

And check out the original Star Wreck "movies" way back from the nineties, on their website, they are hilarious!! :D  www.starwreck.com

I would also highly recommend to donate if you like this kind of stuff :)

No, you can still download "In the Pirkinning" from their website, though the link is sort of buried now. Weird.
