Is that video transmitted real-time like the ET video we see during launch and they're just releasing it now, or is it saved to a card and retrieved from the SRB later?

Neat to see a glimpse of the contrails just before the sep in Part 1...

Part 3 after the sep, even in a little window on my monitor, made me a little sick! :-)

It is recorded on the SRB's, and then is retrieved after the SRb's are returned which is why it took a week to play.

Can clearly see the RCC panel that caused the small commotion (and its very own story) on launch day in this replay.

So was Jim Oberg's rumor true or false?

He said.... "I'm hearing some worried murmurs from contacts -- the separation image cards can't seem to be found. Anybody know more?"

So he's passing on what his contacts are saying, probably based on the "We'll have them uploaded midday Tuesday", to Kylie's "maybe tomorrow" to Derek's "They are still on the Soyuz, a week away".

That would raise alarm bells, so you can see where the rumor's come from, but accroding to Mr Hassmann they are secure, which is the main thing.

It'd be interesting to know why they decided against uploading them at the landing site, why Paolo left the cards on the Soyuz, and why they can't even upload them for a week. Something changed, and the way they are downplaying potentially the most iconic images ever is strange.

They caught a UFO  on the cards and have to go frame by frame and photoshop them out grin.

Now now Prober, that'll only encourage the youtubers who get carried away with waste dumps on shuttle missions ;)

Nice image of an XRS-2200 Linear Aerospike test in your avatar, by the way.

Setting up FD11 (and probably 12) thread next.

This one might be the one where we see the ice at ~70 seconds.
Was looking at both right forward and aft, maybe saw a little streamer with the spot on the MLG door, but if it's anything like the STS-118 richochet, it would need to be slowed down.

Anyone capturing that in HD?

The ice ball hit was not on the MLG door... it was aft of the MLG door and forward of the ET umbilical.

I'll have to go back and listen to the briefings again at some point, but I had two events in my notes, both at almost the same time...thought Mr. Cain said one of them caused the MLG door tile damage.

Edit -- Aaron's got it in his notes, this was the briefing after the FD4 MMT meeting:

I let the JSC newsroom about this...didn't get an idea when that would go up, but hopefully someone will notice when they go to put up the FD11 package.  They are aware of it.

And, as I recall, they are film canisters, not digital storage cards.

It's there now; as well as day 11.
