I think they tried downlinking that, but scrapped it when the KU was deemed as failed.

Those few seconds from the forward SRB cam in which you see the separation, with the orbiter shooting gracefully off into space and the blue glow of the earth in the background, have to be some of the most spectacular available in our time.
There is something about seeing a real spaceship rocketing away up close and from space.
Will there ever be an opportunity for somebody on the ISS to follow and film a launch via the cupola?

Probably not. The ISS is in a higher orbit than the shuttle's initial orbit, so when the shuttle makes it to orbit, it will be moving faster around Earth than ISS. As such, they launch a few minutes after the ISS passes over to give ISS some lead time so that the shuttle will catch up to it instead of racing ahead.

First sentence is correct, second is not. The phase window is a lot wider than that.
