This Energia story is a little confused. MRM-1 is not going to Baikonur, its going to Florida, for launch on the Shuttle. MRM-2 is going to Baikonur, for launch on Soyuz.

The item in most of the photos is MRM-1, and the story mostly talks about MRM-1. The orange and black vertical object in the last photo is (I believe) the mini airlock for MRM-1.

In the first photo, there is a large module behind the MRM-1, I believe that this is the electronic test article for Zvezda.

In fact, these posts should be moved over to the MRM-2 thread.

This Energia story is a little confused

It has two parts - about MRM-1 and MRM-2. They have simply mistakenly written Progress M-MIM1 instead of Progress M-MIM2. And that is all.

"Специализированный грузовой корабль "Прогресс М-МИМ1" ["Прогресс М-МИМ2" - anik], в составе которого находится малый исследовательский модуль МИМ1 [МИМ2 - anik], проходит испытания на герметичность в барокамере РКК "Энергия". Его отправку на космодром Байконур предполагается осуществить в первой декаде сентября"

S.P.Korolev RSC Energia, Korolev Moscow region

S.P.Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia has completed the vacuum-chamber tests of the specialized cargo spacecraft/module Progress M-MRM2. At present, the work to prepare it for shipment to the Baikonur launch site is under way.

The launch of the cargo spacecraft, which has as its main task the delivery of the Mini Research Module MRM2 to the International Space Station (ISS), is scheduled for November of this year.

The specialized cargo spacecraft and MRM2 were developed at RSC Energia.

MRM2 is the new Russian module intended for use within the ISS Russian Segment. The module will make it possible to increase the number of ports on this segment of the station, as well as enable further development of the Russian program of space experiments and research carried out on-board ISS.

Progress does not use analogue control system since 1990. Progress M-MIM2 has Argon-16 computer. Our media have reported that he has TsVM-101 computer, but I was told that it is mistake.

Will this spacesuit be launched with MIM-2?

No, next spacesuits (Orlan-MK or Orlan-MKS) will be launched to ISS not earlier than 2013 - 2014 years. I assume this spacesuit is Orlan-MK #1 or #3. It was probably delivered to here for tomorrow's training of Soyuz TMA-16 crews, which should look at MRM-2.

The 2nd photo from the top shows the interior of MRM-2, the Search module. In the upper left is the Kurs active box, one of the few photos of this ever released.
