The launch is slipping due to electrical problems with the rocket: http://www.jaxa.jp/press/2017/09/20170929_epsilon3_j.html (http://www.jaxa.jp/press/2017/09/20170929_epsilon3_j.html)

Epsilon Unit 3 flight sequence CG

JAXA | Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency
Published on Dec 7, 2017

Since the successful launch of the Pencil rocket in 1955, solid rocket technology in Japan has steadily advanced. It is the Epsilon rocket that inherits that tradition and challenges the reform of the entire launch system. Epsilon is being developed as a fundamental Japanese rocket that responds to various satellite launch needs such as earth observation, space science and exploration. The Epsilon Unit 3 is equipped with a high-performance compact radar satellite "ASNARO - 2" developed by NEC and is scheduled to be launched from the Uchinoura Space Observatory in Kagoshima Prefecture on January 17, 2018. In this video, CG will introduce a series of flows from launch to separation of satellites.

Launch Date of Epsilon-3 Encapsulating ASNARO-2

December 8, 2017 (JST)
National Research and Development Agency
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)

JAXA has updated the launch date of the third Epsilon Launch Vehicle (Epsilon-3) which encapsulates the second Advanced Small-size Radar Satellite (ASNARO-2)*. The Epsilon-3 launch, originally scheduled for November 12, 2017, was postponed as its electrical system needed further confirmation. JAXA has identified and taken countermeasures against the factor that delayed the launch. Refer to the following reschedule details;

Launch Date : January 17, 2018
Launch Time : Approximately 6 a.m. through 6:35 a.m. (Japan Standard Time)
Launch Site  : The JAXA Uchinoura Space Center

*ASNARO-2 was developed by NEC Corporation as part of the project funded by Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. JAXA, NEC Corporation’s contractor, is in charge of this launch.

This launch has something in common with FH, both are constantly rescheduling.

This looks to be an "Enhanced Epsilon" with the larger second stage, but JAXA seems to have dropped the "Enhanced" descriptor for what is now the standard design.

Correct the original "Standard" Epsilon is no longer available.

Via Google browser search I encountered the Google page weather forecast for Uchinoura Space Center.  The weather forecast during the launch window, to my untrained eye, appears favorable.

However, I couldn't find a link on the JAXA web site for the launch site weather forecast, like the graphic forecast they link to for Tanegashima.

Is there a link-able forecast available?

Re: SS-520 No. 5
New rumor details regarding the pressure sensor. Apparently the sensor failure exposed a QC management issue that is having knockon effects, and that the same sensor may be also used by Epsilon, which could reach back to bite everyone, because if Epsilon has another delay, that could push this launch straight out of the window.

I guess the impending launch of the Epsilon LV means that there was no link with it?

Surprising long time between St2 ignition and St1 burnout (57 s), but considering how high it goes it is not so weird after all.

Personally, I think that Epsilon will end up like Vega in a way that it will have a 100% success rate.
