« on: 01/22/2013 05:23 pm »
T-0 4:13 UTC April 26

This will be the first flying bird of the Chinese Gaofen (high resolution remote sensing) satellites, which is one of the twelve National Science and Technology Major Projects.

Thermal testing of the satellite has been completed, with magnetic field testing to follow shortly: http://bbs.9ifly.cn/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=10911&pid=240732

BTW this program also uses other means to acquire high-resolution photography, including airplanes and even stratosphere balloons (!).

GF-1 is now close to being shipped to the launch site - the satellite's thermal and EMC tests has been wrapped up, with only long-term reliability tests to go before shipping.

If GF-1 is going to be launch with other small sats (NEE-01 Pegaso, Turksat-3USAT and others), then this launch will take place on April 30.

I have found no indication of secondary payloads flying with GF-1 for this flight at this time.

There are several references on Chinese foruns that GF-1 will be launched with other satellites, but I haven't seen any «official» confirmation of this.

April launch confirmed: http://news.xinhuanet.com/2013-03/28/c_115200169.htm

Apparently the satellite (and other satellites, aircraft and high-altitude balloons of the GF project) is managed by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence. Main government users includes the Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The satellite has already arrived at JSLC.

If the LTDN (local time at descending node) of the 680 km SSO is 22:30 as reported in the Wiki article of NEE-01 Pegasus, expect the launch to be at around 16:10 UTC (i.e. just after midnight local time on the second day) on launch day. The launch profile should be very similar to the launch of Göktürk 2 late last year.

Apparently THREE foreign micro-satellites are taking the ride later this month, not two: http://bbs.9ifly.cn/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=10911&pid=245293

Can anyone check AMSAT and find the identity of the third one?

Can anyone check AMSAT and find the identity of the third one?

Found it: it's CubeBug-1 from Argentina. The 2U Cubesat has an ARM based on-board computer, a nano-reaction wheel with its driver circuit and a low resolution camera.

Hmm.... the Ecuador Space Agency notice gives 04:13 UTC. I think this is correct as the SSO's LTAN is given as 22:30 (=LTDN 10:30), and a similar orbit is used for the likes of VRSS-1 (which launched at almost the exact time).

Mission patch for NEE-01 PEGASO

Neat patch... What are the names along the bottom edge? And why a cubical  view of earth?

edit: Names are the investigators  Nader is head of the Ecuadorian space agency
   http://www.linkedin.com/in/rnader
   http://www.ne.jp/asahi/hamradio/je9pel/nee_pega.htm
   http://pegaso.exa.ec/index-en.html
and the cubical shape of the patch is probably to acknowledge that it's a cubesat
