Will move this to SpaceX missions when we know which mission this is riding on.

I'm glad to see SpaceX making progress with the Airforce, and am interested in seeing what kind of cost savings can be made from secondary payloads on the falcon9.
Space is worth it God Damnit!

Thanks for this breaking news Chris.

A nice short article.  ;D

Thanks! Wasn't "breaking news" as such. I saw the presser turn up early GMT - and this company isn't well known, based on hardly ever seeing anyone report their developments. So - in addition to having some nice content on the SSPS - thought it'd make a nice morning article! :)

If you don't break the news here it takes me a long time to venture out and visit another space news site.

To me it is breaking news.

This is the only space site I want to be on most of the time.  ;D

Bump?

It is currently shown right after the CRS-6 flight on the SpaceX manifest. Assuming one flight per month from CCAFS, that would put it no earlier than October 2014. This flight was on my list of flights that I think will make it off this year, although CRS-6 was not. I'm much more interested in the Asiasat flights that are long delayed and may or may not have upcoming drop dead dates. Not to mention poor Orbcomm; their satellites are probably out of date by now.

Yeah, lots of spacecraft need to go up, probably more important for the Iridium and Orbcomm to launch earlier than for the Dragon cargo missions, if you're talking about direct impact on the American (and world) economy.

Although Iridium is not scheduled until the end of 2015, so hopefully KE1 will launch before that.

The actual SpaceX manifest shows a Loral mission after CRS-6.

FWIW, Kestrel Eye was supposed to fly with STPSat-3 as secondaries, but STPSat-3 is already in orbit.
