Well, if it launches like a duck, and lands like a duck......

Why bother with LZ-1? Just let it splashdown - it will float after all.......and use the "landing legs" to paddle to shore.

Add 3% habanero to the duck's feed for a hotter burn?
I was thinking extra beans to ensure there's enough methane..

How about 60 nano sats.  Each with a battery, solar cells and a bunch of super bright LEDs.  Station keeping would take some development.  But for SpaceX, I'm sure a trivial problem.  Future advertising possibilities could fund ITS! :)

Please tell me you aren't advocating that they replace the world's night sky with advertisements.  That's horrific.

Top three ways to kill a party...

#3 Play a Yoko Ono album.
#2 The Cops show up.
#1 Govt. shutdown on April 28th.

Yeah... I agree, filling the night sky with advertisements is a really dumb idea.

With much larger, more powerful sats, advertising during  the day would be possible.  Really a much better way to go as most of the target audience would be awake to see it!  8)

Why bother with spaceborne ads when you can just beam ads straight into people's heads with Neuralink?  ;)

"So, I was talking with Cindy the other day and... PURCHASE VIAGRA ONLINE!!!! ... she was saying to me that .....  FREE XXX NEURAL CONNECT!!!... she didn't think that.... hang on, I'm getting a message from a Nigerian prince...."

We could always build a Dyson sphere around the earth.

No more pesky stars.
Cover the outside with solar panels ending the energy crisis and global warming.
By selling the advertising rights to the inside surface we could have the advertisers and Nigerian prince's pay for it!

I for one look forward to the day I look up to what was the sky and see Chris's L2 add.

You can see that in it "kneeled" position, the frame is down on the deck and the tracks are more proud.

Matthew

Well of course they're proud, they know they're going to be making history soon

Musk did say something silly... I'm thinking half mile in size should be nicely visible.
Gotta get back to work.  Having way too much fun on this stuff.  ;D

Edit: Sentence that could be taken extremely the wrong way deleted.

I'm not even joking, we have a 40' one in our warehouse if Musk wants it...

There HAS to be a story there. Why? Don't duck answering our questions....

Because why not a giant duck?

I'd post some pictures of the interior, but that's strictly L2 :P

I like Dyson spheres... Here's what Chris's L2 add would look like on the inside surface with a simulated star background.  Or just in the night sky which would save all that complicated construction stuff and having to deal with the Nigerian prince.

Nah, it's just a really big art installation. The National Endowment for the Arts will probably cough up millions in taxpayer money for it.

I really think in order for SpaceX to impress the crowd they need a simultaneous instant launch with booster recovery of both Iridium-#2 and Intelsat-35e  at the same time.
