Well written article. Thanks for the details on how she will be displayed.
The display is going to be a sight to see. I am so happy that KSC will be her homeport.

Thank you very much for the article.

I am watching the procession livecast on NASA TV feeling much sadness, taking screen shots for the memories.

Today they called you the “Princess” of the fleet…  Sleep well Princess and dream of voyages yet to come in the mind of a young child…

Wonderful final salute to Atlantis Chris G… Thank you!  :)

"From the late 1970s to today, the Kennedy Space Center has thrived and lived for the processing and care of the Space Shuttle orbiter fleet. From Enterprise and Columbia, to Challenger and Discovery, to Atlantis and Endeavour, the workforce and the orbiters themselves lived and breathed in Florida."

Well said, Chris - so in fact this hasn't been "The Final Goodbye" - Atlantis has just moved on down the road...

I'm movin' on down the road.
I'm carryin' this heavy load.

I don't know where I'm goin',

(Gary Moore - "Movin' Down The Road")

A great article about this final shuttle chapter, capturing all the emotions involved - "Thank you for the memories," indeed.

The gathering at Exploration Park yesterday felt like it was part celebration and part wake.  I was delighted to be able to spend a few hours wandering around Atlantis in the sunlight. The crowd thinned out towards 2:00 pm and I still could not quite bring myself to leave.

Great article. Can you imagine anyone not being touched by this. I shouldn't say that, as there's likely to be one moron on twitter or somewhere.
