Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) decided to launch the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 26 (H-IIA F26) with the Asteroid Explorer "Hayabusa2" onboard in the following schedule.
 To capitalize on the excess launch capability of the H-IIA F26, we will also provide launch and orbit injection opportunities for three small secondary payloads (piggyback payloads).

  November 30 (Sunday), 2014 (Japan Standard Time)
Launch time
  1:24:48 p.m. (Japan Standard Time) (*1)
Launch site
  Yoshinobu Launch Complex at the Tanegashima Space Center

*1: Launch time will be set for each launch day if the launch is delayed.

One last look - farewell, MASCOT

05. November 2014

The last adjustments have been made and the final functionality tests have been completed. Following the successful installation of MASCOT into the Hayabusa-2 spacecraft in Sagamihara, the final preparations have taken place at the Tanegashima launch complex in Japan. The attachment of the solar sails – carefully folded up above MASCOT for the launch – offers the last opportunity to see MASCOT.

uh their info is saying its an H-IIA 204, not an H-IIA 202. Is that an error or did they change configs again??

uh their info is saying its an H-IIA 204, not an H-IIA 202. Is that an error or did they change configs again??

Nope - the model can be switched between these two booster variants, as well as using the 4m and 5m payload fairings.  ;)

You know PROCYON is looks like tiny Hayabusa probe ?
PROCYON is 65kg interesting small asteroid probe  8)
Objective are deep space X-band communication experiment, VLBI navigation, high resolution observation during asteroid fast fly-by.
Development time is 1 year, very limited time. Thanks to the Hodoyoshi satellite project, they can utilize the small Xe ion engine (thrust is smaller than 1/100 scale of Hayabusa 2), Ion thruster and COld-gas thruster Unified Propulsion System (I-COUPS). 
Target asteroid is not determined yet. They will determie after the ion engin test result. 1.5 to 2 year mission will be expeted. 
PROCYON will be fly by the targeted asteroid from about 30 km altitude. High resolution images are expected but fast motion is difficalt to capture the images. Therefoe, they developed quick mirror tracking device to the canceling the fly-by motion.
