I have Ice Rain now,..afternoon  does not look like a good time for launching at KSC

Which means nothing, but I suppose they had to put something up. High winds is as good as 100 percent.

Question: is there any benefit to launching at the midpoint in the window ( like STS)?

AFAIK midpoint  is the optimum for each day's launch window.

Primary concerns is thick clouds and ceiling with frontal passage. Winds is expected to be a bit lower, 18-28 kts.
