NBC's broken it ahead of the announcement:

http://cosmiclog.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/02/13091777-boeing-spacex-and-sierra-nevada-to-win-nasa-backing-for-spaceships?lite

SpaceX, Boeing = full award. SNC Dream Chaser - partial award.

Interesting! I'm generally pleased, as it came out pretty close to what I was hoping for.

It includes all three companies I expected in a best-case scenario, although in a slightly different order for the award amounts.

Edit: more detailed comment.

If true, HUGELY happy ATK didn't get the award, that's my main statement.

Again, if true, congrats to Boeing, SpaceX, and SNC.

Let's make it happen! The ISS needs this capability

Are there any contractual implications if the leaker(s) are NASA decision-makers or members of a commercial crew team?

Those were my predictions as well. As credible as Jay Barbee & Alan Boyle are, I'm still going to wait until tomorrow morning before I celebrate.

"NASA is to make the official announcement of the winning commercial teams on Friday morning — but NBC News' Cape Canaveral correspondent, Jay Barbree, received word from two sources who were informed of the decision in advance, on condition of anonymity."

Was Barbree's scoop in print?

SpaceX, Boeing = full award. SNC Dream Chaser - partial award.

In other words, CCDEV2 status quo.

Watching SpaceX and Boeing race to launch the first crew is going to exciting...

I don't know why anyone would say that. All of them brought something to the table

Indeed! And good for the SNC team, as well. Interesting concept they have (as wary as I am of the hybrids).

We don't know for sure if this is actually true or not. But let's put the probability at 80%, since it comes from 2 sources apparently (who, of course, may have gotten it from the same source...). Of course, it could be just a complete guess that became a source through something like citogenesis. But even so, it has got a reasonable chance of being correct anyway.

Let's get there!!!

I’m pleased if this “pans-out” in 12 hours… Reasonable selection with a nod to the Shuttle’s successor… Fitting that Jay heard it first... Karma?

Yep, Liberty would have had the largest payload for a man rated vehicle but the majority of enthusiasts just can't get past their ATK hate.

He didn't hear it first, he just had the least scruples about going to press with unconfirmed rumors.

Congrats to SpX, Boeing and SNC if that is the case.  I am hoping this story isn't a "Dewey defeats Truman".  We should really wait till tomorrow until we can say for sure.

But otherwise, good.  It's time to get to work and get American astronauts back in space (with our own vehicles, this time).

All along I thought as many here did that Being and SpaceX were the front runners. When it was decided that three would be funded, two full and one partial I knew then ATK and Sierra Nevada were going to battle it out for the partial funding. ATK made a valiant run on all fronts. The question remains, will they continue on?

Alan Boyle wrote the story based on Jay's leak. Alan and NBC would not have published it if it weren't true. And yes, it is ironic that Jay is the one to leak it.

Hope so Marc. They've said they would fly regardless, but on a slower schedule without the NASA money.

SpaceX, Boeing = full award. SNC Dream Chaser - partial award.

For the record, the NBC article doesn't actually say which company got the partial award. But the WSJ article does:
