Author Topic: LIVE: STS-135 LAUNCH DAY AND FLIGHT DAY 1 UPDATES  (Read 295354 times)

LIVE interactive coverage for Atlantis' STS-135 countdown.

This is interactive, but will remain focused on updates. Use the other threads.

List: http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?board=3.0 - for items such as viewing the launch, weather and cheerleading posts.

The site will get very busy as we get closer to launch, so please appreciate the thread needs to run on updates, not random posts, and non compliant posts will be deleted by moderators without notice.

During these events, we get absolutely swamped (500+ page impressions a second). Our servers - thanks to L2 members - are excellent, but we will protect the site in the event of overloading. In such a scenario, logged in members will be priority access, not guests.
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=24313.0

Be very careful with posting non-official Twitter updates in here as it's NASA and USA policy that those involved are not to use Twitter during events, so exposing such people will risk them getting into trouble and I don't want this site to ever be responsible for that, even indirectly.

Ok, off we go. Let's see what comes out of the MMT. Would be rare for them not to tank, so expect a go, and then lots of weather talk.

Block Valves are open at the pad, per PR. So the stack is ready to go.

Space Shuttle Atlantis looks very beautiful at the the launch pad 39A where it was first launch on October 3, 1985. Having my fingers cross for the first attempt today.

Weather is ok to tank. Question is if they think it's worth trying to find a small gap in the weather at T-0.

At least one recent flight I remember launched with very bad weather and surprisingly lifted off when a weather scrub was expected. Would not be surprised if this was the case too.

There's always a reason.  The outcome is still in doubt whether there will be acceptable conditions later today, but this is a different case.

Looks from here like the NTV coverage just popped on about 10 minutes late.

Thought I heard Allard quoting something about 'playing in the rain' -- nice line. :)
