L-17- leaving Moscow for Baikonur. Feels strange doing this as a prime crew member.  Going to be a lot of firsts for me in the coming weeks!

Soyuz МS-06 Сrews Began their Training at Baikonur Cosmodrome

August 28, 2017

Today, on August 28 the prime and backup crewmembers of transport manned spacecraft Soyuz МS-06 proceeded with their final training at Baikonur Cosmodrome.

This very day, a Technical Management meeting was held, where a decision was taken to fuel Soyuz MS-06 with propellant components and compressed gases.

ROSKOSMOS cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin (spacecraft commander, ROSCOSMOS) and astronauts Mark Vande Hei and Joseph ACABA (flight engineers, NASA) being members of the ISS-53/54 Expedition tried on their spacesuits Sokol-KV, and following the spacesuit leak test took their places in the vehicle. The crew tested the radio communication system, laser ranging system, got familiar with the onboard data files, studied the flight program and a list of cargo to be delivered to the ISS.

After training, the crews will return to Cosmonaut Training Center in the Star City to complete the training session and pass exams, and on September 6 they will return to Baikonur Cosmodrome for the final pre-flight training phase.

On Sunday, on August 27, Soyuz MS-06 prime and backup crewmembers arrived to Baikonur cosmodrome. The backup crew consists of cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov (spacecraft commander, ROSCOSMOS) and NASA astronauts Scott Tingle and Shannon Walker (flight engineers, NASA).

The launch of Soyuz MS-06 carrying the crew of the next long-duration tour to the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled on September 13, 2017 from Launch site No.1 (Gagarinís Launch Pad) of Baikonur cosmodrome.
