Aisha Mustafa's Space Drive

Interesting article I found on the net:

Don't know how much of it is actually real, thoughts?

It's about as real as Bugs Bunny cartoon physics. Moving mirrors interacting with the quantum particle sea? I hope that wasn't the US patent office.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

The dynamic casimir effect has been observed last year (http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/arxiv/26813/).

Basically, by moving a mirror at relativistic speeds the researchers were able to "produce light out of nothing". (IANAQP but this covers the gist of it).

Expelling photons creates force, and so in theory it's possible to propel a spacecraft (or generate electricity/steam) but I wonder how much energy is spent on moving the mirrors.

My guess: better gear up on ion thrusters for now.
