According to a post from Nicolas Pillet on the schedule thread, there will be a Soyuz-2 launch from Plesetsk on 25th October 2017.

No more information at this time.

One option would be the Pion NKS satellite.

According to posts by a KB Arsenal insider on the NK forum, Pion NKS is unlikely to fly any time soon. The bus is apparently ready, but the spacecraft has been waiting for its SIGINT payload for four years. The payload is to be delivered by TsNIRTI, which has developed all SIGINT payloads since the 1960s.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with Arsenal to build a modified version of Lotos-S called Lotos-M. According to the same insider this will basically be a Lotos-S without Western-built electronic components (because of the sanctions). However, Lotos-M so far only exists on paper, so it can't be the payload for the October launch either. I've also seen no indications that a third Lotos-S is being prepared for launch.

In order to avoid misunderstanding and to not reproduce what happened with Cosmos-2519, I want to underline that I have absolutely no information about which payload it will be, and which type of launcher it will be (A, B or V).

I think that the only thing we can be sure, is that it is not a GLONASS, because ISS didn't made an announcement about any satellite delivery to Plesetsk.

Do we at least know by now what version of the Soyuz-2.1 will be used?  ;)

I would not be surprised if it is a Soyuz 2.1b. Many were ordered.

Launch delayed indefinitely.

Any indications why?

Nov. 18 or later: A Soyuz-2 rocket to launch a classified satellite from Plesetsk. The mission was previously planned for Oct. 25, 2017, but had to be postponed until beginning of November and until November 18, at the earliest, due to problems with the payload. On Oct. 25, space officials were expected to hold a meeting in Moscow on the status of the mission.

Suggestion for the mods: May I suggest a thread split? (Thread 43835)

A separate thread, using the pertinent posts from the current thread, or maybe just re-titling this thread, for the Soyuz-2-1B launch of the 2nd Lotos (14F145) satellite, now scheduled for December 1, Plesetsk.

I searched briefly for a pre-existing "next Lotos" thread and did not find one.

A separate thread, using any pertinent posts from the current thread, for the Soyuz-2-1v launch of an unknown military payload, EOY 2017 or BOY 2018, Plesetsk.

EDIT: reported to moderators

Wasn't Cosmos 2502 the first 14F145/Lotos satellite?   It was preceeded by Cosmos 2455 which was 14F138/Lotos-S.

According to NK, this one will launch from pad 43/3 - which will be its first since the infamous Foton-M1 disaster in 2002!

Will 43/4 be closed for repairs then?

Or to prepare it for the Soyuz-2-1v launch in December.

May be unrelated to the status of 43/4. I read somewhere a couple years ago that 43/3 was being returned to service and upgraded for Soyuz-2, and that 16/2 was going to be upgraded for the Soyuz-2-1v.

Any news about delays for this mission after the Meteor-M 2-1 failure? For now it appears preparations keep going and, if Blok-I is able to be exonerated soon, there should be no delay... but maybe I'm overlooking more up-to-date sources?

In the hours immediately following the botched launch of the previous Soyuz-2-1b rocket from Vostochny on November 28, preparations for the next mission continued in Plesetsk as scheduled. Because the upcoming mission carried a low-orbiting satellite without the Fregat upper stage, the fresh Soyuz-2-1b launch could probably proceed as long as space officials could isolate the problem to the Fregat. According to the latest schedule, on November 29, military personnel in Plesetsk was ready to integrate the upper composite, including the 14F145 satellite and the third stage, with an already assembled first and second stages of the launch vehicle.

That would probably be from this NSF thread which hasn't been updated since 2016:

Yep, that's what I read. I was referring to news from today, maybe from Russian sources that I'm not familiar with. I assume if there's chances of problems with Block I they wouldn't mate it to the R7.

They are trying to rule out the following part of the fault tree from the previous launch (separation system issue between Blok-I and Fregat-M resulting in an off-nominal separation as it is still an active theory). The State Commission is prepared to approve a rollout and sit vertical on the pad for a few days even if they cannot provide a confirmed launch date at this time.
