Launch Schedule For Wallops Island
« on: 03/18/2017 11:14 PM »
I'm headed to the Wallops Island area in late July around the 21st through the 28th, and that's the annual pony swim at Chincoteague.  I'm going with a group for the pony swim.   Do they reschedule the launches around the pony swim (i.e. nothing goes up while that happens) or do they conduct business as usual?

I know they are no Antares or Minotaur orbital launches occuring from Wallops in that time frame as of current schedules, but there might still be sounding rockets being launched. If it came to them coinciding I'm not sure what they would do, but in the past they have launched an Antares near that timeframe, July 13, 2014.

According to this launch schedule there are no sounding rocket launches currently planned from Wallops Island (WI) during July 2017:

Anyone been to the Wallops visitor center?  How is it compared to the Space Center at Huntsville.  Would it be a all day tour, or would an hour easily cover everything?

I was disappointed when I was there a few years ago.  We spent an hour or so.  I spent more time looking at the Jupter missile at Air Power Park in Hampton, Virginia
