LIVE: STS-129 Flight Day 5 - Transfers
« on: 11/20/2009 02:09 am »
Might combine this with a Saturday EVA-2 thread, as I'm not entirely sure how much coverage we'll be able to take from this sort of Flight Day. Anyhoo....

FD5 Article: http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2009/11/sts-129-elc-2-transfers-eva-2-preps-flight-day-5/

FD5: No Focused Inspection
– EVA2 camp-out (Foreman and Bresnik)
– Node 1 mod kit installation

Please note, this is interactive, but all posts need to be on topic. If you post images, no more than two per post.

May as well throw the NASA TV schedule up here.  This is from Rev E.  Keep in mind this may change through the day.

A selection of STS-129 Flight Data Files have finally been posted on the NASA website:

(if this has been mentioned elsewhere, my apologies)

Wake-up call postponed by 30mins due to crew being woken in the night by a false alarm.

Heh!

Some morning PAO events I see. To the Americans....is that morning show they appear to be going on live with something that has a reasonably big audience?

Yes, SportsCenter is huge.  :)  Wasn't aware of Tom Joyner, but sounds like he's radio...so maybe I've heard his show sporadically while driving at night across Texas.

OH! It's ESPN sportscenter? Used to get my MLS fix off that via the power of the internet :) Wow, that is good.

Is MCC-M giving work instructions orally so the on bard crew has to write it down? Sounds like a hassle.

PAO event starting.

Asking how they are doing and noting transfers being the focus today.

"Just trying to keep station running has been a real joy."

Bill Harwood asks about the depress alarm last night.

Charlie "They are still getting the full story, happened at the start of sleep, so no one had gone into total sleep, so it was fun to get everyone together and say 'hey, what's going on? Wasn't a big deal"

Pregnant wife and Thanksgiving questions.

Looks like a USMC and US Army banners behind them, can't make out the other one.

Most likely Navy since Wilmore is a navy guy.

Looks like the local TV part is live. WFTV - Nashville.

This will be generic. "Any issues?"

"Things are going real well, no issues at this time."

Local questions. Challenges of 12 crewmembers.

Charlie says it's seemless and more of a plus as everyone knows what they are doing and understand the hardware.

Question about shuttle retirement.

"The shuttle is an amazing vehicle, but every vehicle has its time. We're ready for the next vehicle (did not say Ares I, but probably wouldn't to a local TV station). It's about keeping station alive as long as possible." - Charlie.

"The shuttle has helped build this, and played a major part and a tribute to the amazing machine it is." (Nice!)

Oops, having Ku dropouts at the end of that segment.

Fox News radio next - live again. "Special Report".

Barry asked how he's finding it. "It's truely amazing, I'm in sensory overload. The launch was A-MAZ-ING :).

Asks about the shorter mission. Charlie notes the lack of SSPTS.

Charlie asked about the change in the size of station. Says he didn't notice the change in volume between his first and second flight, but can really tell the difference on this flight.

More pregnant questions. Barry makes a point about it being the same as on military duty around the world.
