New material steals oxygen from air

I just read about this and was wondering, how this could impact space travel. How much weight could be saved by storing this material over huge oxygen tanks and how much longer could a vessel stay in space with this possible tech? I know it's early in their experimentations, but this could be groundbreaking, in my opinion.
