I believe this launch has been delayed once or twice?
What was/were the reasons for delaying--payload delays, processing, etc.?

The JAXA/NASA/public communications seem pretty sparse so I haven't an immediate answer to delays. It's very possible that HTV-5 could be delayed to help with the scheduling mess caused by the Progress M-27M failure that's also affected crew replacements. HTVs aren't flown often so it may seem that they are delayed but aren't (last was HTV-4 in late 2013).

According to the ISS flight schedule thread, last updated 4/24/2015 (http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=32006.140) the flight is still up for August.

What is the likelihood that this flight shall be delayed by 2-3 weeks or so?

I'd like to know for my own (quite selfish!) reasons!

Some follow-up on my own questions, using data from this sub-forum's Japanese launch schedule thread
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=1181.0:

After the HTV-4 flight, the HTV-5 launch was scheduled for July 1, 2014.

The 3/18/14 update has the launch delayed to February 1, 2015.

The 8/5/14 update has the launch delayed to NET April 1, 2015, with a separate post in the thread quoting a "US payload preparation delay."

The 10/21/14 update has the launch delayed to its current date, August 17, 2015.

I assume some of the delay has to do with delays elsewhere in the ISS program, and those delays propagating into the scheduling of the Visiting Vehicles arrivals and departures.

The reference to a payload delay is interesting--what is it and what happened?

What else happened?

My note of a payload delay was speculation only. Your information shows more reliable guesstimates into the minds of the JAXA and NASA wizards. It's the Progress M-27M incident, combined with US crews trained and ready to deal with cargo that fueled my speculation. Sorry for any confusion.

100% right, the problem isn't the HTV it is elsewhere.

Figured I'd give the HTV-5 a good glamor shot; she may not get the attention of the other cargo vehicles, but she is quite efficient and modest!

She's rather pretty with all that Kapton. Pity she doesn't surprise us by opening up into a mecha robot to clean up the station or just scare the bejeebus out of both Russian and US teams. :) Nice rendering!

It does carry more cargo to ISS at a time then any other vehicle presently in service so deserves more attention.
Only the cargo version of DreamChaser and Lockheed's Jupiter/Exoliner would offer similar capabilities.

Even for those of us who don't know Japanese, we can still look at the pictures and diagrams.  (And some of the pictures have English captions which is unexpected but welcome.)  The documentation is very much appreciated. :)
