ULA to Unveil America’s Next Generation Launch System at

Space Symposium on Monday, April 13, 2015

ULA CEO Tory Bruno to Announce New Name and Details of

America’s New Rocket at 2 p.m. MT

What: Media are invited to participate in a news conference (remotely or in-person) on Monday, April 13, at 2 p.m. MT, during which United Launch Alliance (ULA) CEO Tory Bruno will unveil the Next Generation Launch System and its name, which was determined after more than one million votes received March 23 – April 6.

ULA currently provides more than 70 percent of all the nation’s space launches. The Next Generation Launch System will impact the future of the space launch industry by making space more affordable and accessible, while continuing to deliver on ULA’s history of reliability and precision. This press conference will be the first time that details, including a model, about the Next Generation Launch System will be revealed.

Where: The news conference will take place at the 31st Space Symposium, which is held at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Media currently registered for the Symposium are invited to attend in person. The press conference will be held on the second floor of the International Center in the Media Center.

The good news is we'll have a special ULA guest on the site answering your questions after the event. Thread for that will be set up on the day so as not to overload it with questions before he starts answering them.

This thread will open about an hour ahead of Tory Bruno taking the stage. EDIT: Now open.

A Q&A with Dr. George Sowers - VP, Advanced Concepts and Technologies (new rocket development is within his department) - who has kindly agreed to take questions on the NGLS - will be open on Tuesday.

They've stopped with the beep at least.

I'm sad that their unveiling is at the same time as the Falcon 9 launch, coincidence or not.

She attached images, looks the same as in that teaser image, besides the added 5m fairing version.

EDIT: Didn't see that there was more than one hat up there- name not revealed yet

Someone over at ULA communications should get a serious talking to.  this is just going to get lost in the exhaust wash from CRS-6.

there is going to be more talk about whatever happens with SpaceX whether it is a scrub, failed launch, successful launch with failed landing, or successful landing.

I cannot come up with a reason that this had to happen today.

There are actually 3 hats on the stand, one each with the names Vulcan, Zeus and GalaxyOne with a custom logo on each of them! Let's see what the sorting hat is going to do!  ;)

This announcement is happening during the 31st Space Symposium, so it has been on the agenda for a long time.
