The California Science Center had plans to get a shuttle displayed there a year before Endeavour even launched on her first flight. That's dedication for ya

The link below has a Los Angeles Times animation of how the shuttle transporter will work, particularly noting the three types of turning maneuvers, along with details of the route and the latest on viewing locations.

The last viewing location is good because you can take the Expo line (light rail), to the USC stop and walk the last bit. Bikes are allowed on the trains.

"The final chance to see the shuttle will be along Bill Robertson Lane as it approaches the California Science Center in Exposition Park about 8:30 p.m. Los Angeles police said four parking lots between Bill Robertson Lane and Vermont Avenue would be available for public viewing but encouraged people to take the Metro and arrive early." - LA Times

I plan to view it at this (at one time little published spot) now announced to everyone on this article, early Thursday before the crunch.

Quote
After rolling down Northside and Westchester parkways, the shuttle will come to a stop in a parking lot on La Tijera Parkway about 4 a.m., where it will wait about nine hours as crews widen its computerized transporters and work on power lines farther along the route.

Large crowds are expected to turn out to see the shuttle at the spot, and Los Angeles police will have extra personnel on hand to guard the spacecraft.
.

What the organizers should do is get together with the police to assemble the crowds in a line, to walk past and view it a acceptable distance, rather than a large unorganized crowd standing behind police lines and pushing for viewing..

Oh well, I see what happens.

Spot #2 is near the Famous Randy's Dounts Sign.  That would be a great picture of the two.

Thanks!  Good to see the City of Inglewood has a plan for pedestrian viewing.  Hopefully the LAPD will cook up something similar for folks.

That was fun to watch.  The CA-DOT prohibits the use of the that type of overland transporter from driving across the freeway bride, thus necessitating the use of an alternate means (i.e., the Toyota Truck).  But never the less, it's a promotional gimmick. Toyota is a significant source of contributions to the California Science Center.

Rain is in the forecast for late tonight and into early hours Friday morning.  The start of movement from the United hanger starts at 11 p.m. and onto the public streets at 2 a.m.  I'm hoping it won't being delays or issues.

Doors of the United Hanger are now opening up to bring out Endeavour.  There will be some local TV News coverage of the move starting at 4:00 a.m. (local time  PDT).  Also, rain has cleared out of the area.

They'd need about 20 cameras, remote OB and all that jazz to stand a chance of covering it.

Best hope was always going to be local stations, but none of them seem to give a crap at the moment. I'm sure when a tree protester turns up, we'll get something. ;)

I used to think Twitter was a pile of nonsense. But it really does come in useful for times like this.

Five Space Shuttle Endeavour Disaster Scenarios
http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2012/10/five_space_shuttle_endeavour_disaster_scenarios.php

5. The Collapse of the Manchester Boulevard Bridge
4. Shuttlemaggeddon on the 405
3. Riots
2. Giant Sinkhole
1. Terrorist Hijacking and Global Genocide

btw, no local LA station is currently covering. Can't see any livefeeds for this (still looking tho), which would've been nice since the perimeter is so wide around Endeavour.
