Why does someone named Stockman talking about Budgets so amuse me..  Could be because of my former MI Congress Critter that worked OMB for Reagan.. LOL

Also met with the National Security Adviser yesterday, who is Charlie's old boss.  Says that NASA will play in with the national security strategy.  Met with OMB last week.

Points out that the Centers have a lot better "family" atmosphere than HQ does.  Attributes it to gathering facilities and occasions at the Centers.  Wants to try to make the Mall like that at HQ.  Opportunities to mingle and see each other in a more relaxed, family-type way.

Meeting with the Science Advisor, John Holdren, this afternoon.  Talking about the Space Policy review (not Augustine), led by the NSA (General Jones).
If I like something on NSF, it's probably because I know it to be accurate.  Every once in a while, it's just something I agree with.  Facts generally receive the former.

"We cannot continue on the path we're on. Who doesn't want to go to Mars?"

Questions if we're wasting time talking about the moon.

We all agree we want to go to Mars, but we don't agree on how to get there.  Acknowledges that some think the Moon doesn't need to be a part of that, some say ditch the Station as soon as possible.

Needs to organize the efforts into coherence.

Thanks Sens. Nelson and Hutchison for pushing the vote through.

Crying again.  "Incredibly proud to be here"

He has a point there, the USMC is the smallest of the services, and they do not have alot of money to procure new equipment, so they have to be cafeful on how they spend what they do have.

That was probably better than PAO and a shuttle launch (without the rocket going up in the background of course). Amazing conference.

I'm a bit flabbergasted :D Very likable, and gave a big push about space flight, hardly anything on airplanes etc. Big hint about Mars first.

For those still in the system, it was my personal experience that it is OK to bring General Bolden the bad news.  John Shannon and Wayne Hale are the same.  Let's see what happens to mid management on this very important issue.

I agree that NASA has won the lotery on getting General Bolden.
