Now this is pretty amazing.
Thats beautiful design work. If you did it yourself in a CAD pkg or Art SW its yours as "ART" If you wish to protect your work you can sign it so to speak. Put your name or handle or something inside say the heat shield or something. If you want to make a few dollars off each design look into this firm and see you can buy and sell this way. http://www.ponoko.com/make-and-sell/sell-eps
New Mars Curiosity Roverhttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27908This one looks like it will have a great deal more features and detail.
I kind of quickly threw something together.http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34320
What 3d printers are you guys using?
Added a few things to the model
Solar arrays are now rotatable and trunk is removable.

Only issue atm is if they will get enough funding to make the goal. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1650950769/l5-3d-a-stylish-and-affordable-3d-printer
Thanks, Prober! Excellent thread. I've got some Shapeways credit that is burning a hole in my pocket. I think I'm going to go for the 3D Mars...
Hello all,I've been looking and looking at the beautiful 3D models NASA has posted. Has anybody actually managed to get any of them printed? We might be getting a 3D printer at work, and I'd love to see the results, or hear any lessons you might be able to share. Thanks,Jeff
Added features and cleaned up model (hatches are now rounded).

I believe I'm officially finished with my model. As a reminder it can be found here. These are the different versions that are available.
Live 3D Printing demoWe have a new printer that we are in the process of calibration; we had our first day with the new printer operating on Thurs. Jan. 17th. Current plans have a window of late this afternoon (Friday Jan. 18th. thru Sat. pacific US time) Next in the planned calibration process is to print a “model”. We have chosen Manboys SpaceX capsule to be printed. Also expect video problems as this will be my first time broadcasting to Ustream @ http://www.ustream.tv/channel/threed-printing

Hi Prober,I've seen all the outstanding 3D printed Shuttle models and know now that's possible printing such a model of an entire Shuttle stack (Orbiter & ET & SRBs) also in 1:160. Please could you tell me how it would be as expensive?
very hard to answer, many variables. Material costs very low, but times becomes the major factor. What is the person who is printing's time worth? It comes down to hours of printing depending on the quality wished for as you can alter the height of material, thickness inside etc. You might wish to submit the print your interested in to one of the service bureaus and get a rough idea of price. Many times this works for some projects. Some projects its better to buy your own printer as they are low cost and quality is getting much better each day. good idea to check out this thread and watch the video (very old now and obsolete)http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=30985.0Edit: add link
I've started on Cygnus but I'm waiting until its ISS mission before I finish it.
Here's dragon being printed (not me)
I recently discovered Shapeways and found a 1/144 scale Dragon that I bought. I also ordered a set of parts to make a Falcon 9. But, I see your models are just the files to use on a printer, something I do not have, nor am likely to in the future. Do you know if your files could be sent to Shapeways for printing?Attached are a couple of pictures and one with a temp trunk I slapped together.

SpaceX Falcon 9 v1.1 http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:230070Note: for some reason two files are up on this and atm note sure the differences. Do note that both sets do have iges and step files to import and add more features per your tastes SpaceX Falcon 9 v1.1 http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:230065

A number of 1/32 scale LM parts have been made available through Shapeways (just search for 'lunar module').
The page you linked to contains lots of 3D models that aren't necessarily printable. The printable models are on this page:http://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/models/printable

Thanks for starting this thread! My new Printrbot Simple Metal printer arrived just after Christmas, but I finally had time to put it together and start playing. I'm working on a copy of @manboy's Dragon v1, very cool, and I'm also printing out the Buran that was linked earlier for my 2-yr old to play with (he is obsessed with rockets, wonder where that comes from?). I like the exploded version of the Dragon, I'm expecting that my son will enjoy taking apart the trunk, capsule and solar panels. He's just discovered how staging works ("good bye fuel tank!") so I expect at some point I'm going to tweak some of the excellent SpaceX-related models to have separate stages that snap or slide together somehow, like the slide mechanism in the Buran.Anyone else have any favorite aerospace-related toys they've printed?
Anybody got a Dragon 2? Sigh...
This was awesome to look at, but I have one question, are you just sitting in one spot and looking around? I was hoping I could go up into the docking tunnel, but I could not find a way to do it.
