Orbiter 3 in 1 Lego Set
« on: 06/10/2017 04:17 am »
On Tuesday, June 1st, I headed to the Lego store in the Fashion Valley Mall to get a new Saturn V set. However, I was very disappointed when the lady said they were sold out....I searched for a consolation prize and found a new space shuttle orbiter set that was a 3 in 1 set. You could choose to build a shuttle orbiter, a rover, or a space habitat. I chose the orbiter, finished the set in a couple of days. (Happily I got the Saturn V set a few days later).
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

The finished product. Not a bad looking Shuttle orbiter but I wish Lego would do a Space Shuttle orbiter (or stack) with the same scale and detail they did with the Saturn V.

They did, ish:

1:126 scale, vs 1:110 for Saturn V

That old set, 10231, doesn't really rock my boat: the ugly main landing gear poking through the wing, ugh...

I agree that it would be marvellous to have a Space Shuttle in "Saturn V quality". Till that happens the Lego Creator set looks quite nice. At least for smaller children. Thanks for posting, Bubbinski, I'll get it next time I go to the LEGO shop!

Saw these two movies of the Creator 3 in 1 build. Especially the first one is quite hilarious:

Did you rebuild it as the Rover or Base yet?

I like that they named the Lego astronaut Mark.  As in Watney, maybe?
