Buzz Aldrin on ITV (UK)
« on: 02/09/2007 11:05 pm »
Brilliant, the guy is a legend.

This is a comedy chat show with a guy called Al Murray, prime time UK national TV. Buzz was on and there was no p-ss taking, total respect shown and Buzz was really funny and interesting.

Dealt with the conspiracy idiots as they should be, even apologizing for bringing it up.

Really was a great segment, especially after recent events.

The guy is awesome.

Great interview.

Though, as an American, I was a little confused by his offering Buzz a "spice drink" at the beginning.   ;)

Was a really good interview. Just to note that tonights show was the repeat/re-run. The first showing was last Saturday before the Nowak story broke.

Yeah, I saw it too. Really was fantastic. Was a bit worried they would continue with the format of the show and joke about him, but they obviously didn't dare and you can tell Al Murray genuininly respected him. Buzz was great!

I was a little confused by his offering Buzz a "spice drink" at the beginning.   ;)

I notice that a glass of what looks like beer was handed to Buzz. *Mistake.* He's a non-drinker now.

Buzz is a hell of a guy in person.

Not a great recording on the youtube video. Watched in on the TV proper and it was blackcurrent or cranberry juice.

OK, good. Noticed he took a sip or three from it, so I figured it *wasn't* beer.

Only time I ever saw Buzz and booze at the same time was at an Int. Space Dev  Conference back when I was in college. A group of us college goobers got to have a chat with him in the hotel lobby at something like 1AM; things were going well until a *very* drunk widow of the creator of a well-known and much-beloved science fiction TV series from the '60's (and several follow-on movies and TV series...) came along, and put her very likkered-up moves on Buzz.  He handled that with class, until the widows "handler" came along and hustled her away...

A very approachable feller, so long as you don't approach him with a camera and a conspiracy theory. Sharp as a tack.

He'd be an awesome interview. Certainly would be on my wish list, along with Hale, Hill, Crippen, Young etc.

Al Murray is great. Buzz Aldrin is great.

Therefore, how can this not be great? Thanks Chris :)

Edit: I was not disappointed. That was awesome.

I guess the Americans here won't be familiar with Al Murray's act, he's supposed to be a jingoistic cockney barman, very proud of his British heritage, but without being racist about it.

It was space drink. Blame the cockney accent. It even said it on the side of the can :P

He normally rips into the guests with his comedy act. When he said it was a boyhood dream to meet him, you can tell he wasn't lying. So much respect and that made it work.

Always wondered why Neil Armstrong shyed away from the media?

Because he's "shy"? :)
