Update thread for NROL-52:

This launch is part of the Phase 1 Block Buy. Does anyone know how many launches remain in the Phase 1 Block Buy following this launch?

Re: NROL-52 artwork

The ULA Launch Store has short and long-sleeve T-shirts available for this launch.  The artwork features a bald eagle, wings outstretched and talons ready to strike.  The artwork also includes an Atlas V 421.  There's art on the payload fairing, but it's too low-res to identify much other then American flag colors red, white, and blue.

There's no sign of "Spike," the reptilian mascot of NROL-61, which is deduced to have carried the previous Quasar payload last year.

Has he returned from his space mission to his family?

If not, is there a bald eagle-naut on NROL-52 preparing for a rescue mission?  :)

Patch-ology sure is fun!

IF the TDRS-M launch is delayed from August 3 (apparently looking more and more likely),

THEN how many days could it be delayed without affecting the NROL-52 launch date?

If the delay is significant enough, could the TDRS-M Atlas/Centaur stack be de-stacked to make way for the hardware for this launch?

Or, (a more naive question) could hardware meant for one launch be re-purposed for another?

Changes to Eastern Range launch schedule: SpaceX CRS-12 now no earlier than 8/14; SpaceX X-37B NET 9/7; ULA NROL-52 NET 9/25.

Is the delay of the NROL-52 launch from 8/31 to NET 9/25 (same LV from same LC) directly caused by the delay of the TDRS-M launch from 8/3 to 8/10, then to 8/20?

I assume so, but seek confirmation, if possible.

Yes.
And having L-42 in the middle has a small influence as well, even though a different coast.

Interesting that SpaceX is NET than 27th.  Guessing SpaceX is going to have to move their date since I didn't think the eastern range could recycle between launch providers in under 24 hours?

No conflict--check the most recent iteration of the US Launch Schedule thread.

SES-11/Falcon 9 launch has been delayed to early October.

And, hopefully not straying too far OT, the Spock/Kirk chess/poker metaphors referenced in "The Corbomite Maneuver."

(Please correct me if I'm wrong, but we never SEE Kirk (or anyone else) playing poker in ST:TOS?)

Tweet from James Dean:

45th Space Wing Cdr Monteith (left) expects launches to resume early Oct. with SpaceX/SES-11. Wing hosted Army 101st Airborne after Irma.

I guess this will get pushed back a little.

Does NROL-42 have to fly first for any reason, or could they swap sequence?

With so much noise about the build up to NROL-42, I am guessing the silence around 52 is leading to it being not longer in Sept.   Since we are 8 days away from the NET.

It's been 5 Oct since L-42 slipped to 22 Sep.

This may sip again due to l-42 further slipping.
