Our effort must be oriented to get artificial gravity. The following presentation is
a new approach to get 1 G gravity.

I like the idea of an AG station too. We had a discussion on this a while back that you may find an interesting read.

I think is not smart to sent astronauts to Mars for 500 days and exercising more than 2 hours every day (awful) due to zero gravity. Nasa have to focus on artificial gravity and implement an arrangement ( habitat module ) to study the effects on astronauts health.
Question:
What happen if an astronaut get kidney stone due to lost of calcium from his bones ?
Who is going to take care ?
Health must be the priority.

One reason I like the DRM 4.0 BNTR design as it solves the AG problem in an elegant fashion.

My other favorite is just add a rotating second like on Nautilus-X.
But I think they do need to invest on some partial G research in LEO so we have data points on exactly how much AG will be needed.
