Here's the feature article we've been wanting to run for months, but held back because we didn't want to damage Major Peake's chances in any way.

By Pete Harding, superb as ever:

Loved the large amount of Union Jacks in the article! ;D

Crazy to think we're going to have months of his voice and accent coming down from the ISS.

Smashing! ;D

Awesome!  Good to see a Brit going up onto the ISS!

Just for grins: He should wear a space 1999 uniform while on the station! ;)

A GREAT DAY! He'll represent us very well.

Thanks for the very nice article Pete. You're a very good writer.

Great news, and a nice article.

(And, if no-one else is going to say it - "ground control to Major Tim".  ;D )

cheers, Martin

Nice one Pete and great news about Tim.

Obviously, we need to get some priorities out of the way. What football team does he support?

Heh! Probably Portsmouth, based on where he's from.

Great read Pete! A big moment for the UK, and an even bigger one to come (when he goes up).

Tim Peake has now popped into 10 Downing Street.

I'm hoping the public get behind him too.

Nice. Doesn't matter if any of us like or dislike Cameron, it's been a refreshing upturn for UK Space recently!

Thank you everyone for the amazing response to my mission assignment - it has been a crazy day...now the real work begins :)

Thanks all for the compliments on the article! That really was an enjoyable one to write up.

I suppose I don't need to say how much having a fellow Brit on the ISS will mean to me. Major Peake has lit the way for future British astronauts, and really has given the people of Britain something to be proud of.

And I'm glad to see we did the event "properly" via meeting the PM, etc.

Congratulations Major Peake! I have to admit I'll always consider Helen Sharman and Michael Foale to be Britain's true first representatives in space, regardless of which foreign agency they flew with. But I'm sure Major Peake will have a great time doing the tweet-ups and live interviews with his country's schoolchildren that have become a staple of the ISS era.
