Apollo 13 Documentary?
« on: 04/01/2007 01:54 am »
Hi everyone,

I am reading Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger's book Apollo 13 and I am wondering if there is a good documentary on the mission.  Of course, I know of Apollo 13 the movie.....(oddly enough, I have never seen it), but I understand it is highly dramatized.

Is there a currently available documentary on the mission?  What would you recommend?

"Apollo 13: To The Edge And Back", a PBS Documentary from 1994, is superb. 90 mins, available on DVD.
Lovell's "Lost Moon" (later renamed "Apollo 13" to tie in with the movie) arrived shortly thereafter. Both have been cited as inspirations for Ron Howard's 1995 movie.

The standard NASA docufilm "Apollo - 13: Houston, We Have A Problem" is pretty good.  The VHS tape use to be available wherever videos are sold,
but I have the clip that comes with the DVD set "NASA - 50 Years of Space Exploration" I got for Christmas from my brother-in-law.

Seconded. There's really no comparison.
